Position Overview

 

As a Safety Manager at Kiewit, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the safety and well-being of our teams. You will be responsible for implementing and overseeing the Project Safety Program, conducting training sessions, monitoring construction activities for compliance, and maintaining safety policies and procedures. District Overview

Kiewit's Southeast District is one of Kiewit's leading infrastructure districts specializing in heavy civil, transportation, and water resource markets. Projects you could be working on could include building bridges, airports, mass transit systems, canals, dams, pump stations or tunnels.  Although most of our work is regionally based in the southeast region of the United States, we also pursue various projects stretching across the east coast. We are looking for individuals who are passionate about infrastructure and committed to the construction industry instead of design.

Responsibilities

Responsibilities

  • Managing the company's environmental health and safety programs at the project level, ensuring a safety-oriented approach to work.
  • Compiling and analyzing occupational illness and accident data, recommending safety features to reduce hazards.
  • Inspecting facilities, machinery, and safety equipment to identify and correct potential hazards.
  • Monitoring the workforce for unsafe behaviors and providing coaching for corrective actions.
  • Developing safety training materials and maintaining training records.
  • Interpreting safety regulations and conducting safety training sessions.
  • Coordinating with OSHA officials and inspectors when required.

Qualifications

Qualifications

  • Degree in Occupational Health and Safety or related field; or equivalent experience.
  • CSP or CHST certification preferred.
  • 5 years of experience in managing construction projects, particularly in highway construction.
  • Strong knowledge of OSHA regulations, hazard recognition, and injury management.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel, along with strong organizational skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong work ethic, ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • First Aid, EMT certification, and OSHA/MSHA instructor certifications are a plus.
  • Physical ability to access construction sites in various environments.
  • Ability to lift objects up to 30 pounds and move around construction sites.

  • May work at various different locations and conditions may vary.
