Position Overview

Our rapidly growing multi-discipline engineering group requires additional senior design mechanical engineers. If you are looking for a career with a progressive and construction focused engineering group that will provide you the opportunities to work in a wide range of energy and industrial projects, this position is for you. Current projects underway include the design of green hydrogen production facilities, solar and wind renewable power generation, large scale CCGT power generation, lithium battery manufacturing, lithium recovery and processing, LNG, carbon capture and low carbon fuels just to name a few. 

The initial focus of this position will be for the design of mechanical systems typical for biogas, bulk solids material handling, food and beverage, and other industrial facilities including, but not limited to, process piping, conveying systems, dust collection, general plant/facility water, compressed air, and gas systems.

Location

This position is based out of Calgary, AB.
 

Responsibilities

  • Provide design, coordination, and oversight of various mechanical systems including the preparation and/or management  of design calculations and equipment specifications typical for bulk solids conveyors, dust collection equipment, bins/tanks, pumps, heat exchangers, boilers, and other process equipment.
  • Generate and/or check design deliverables such as PFD’s, P&ID’s, datasheets, and vendor shop drawings in accordance with industry codes and standards, contract requirements, and company standards.
  • Develop schedules, work assignments, and staffing requirements to ensure successful project completion.
  • Provide oversight and coordination of projects, working with the assigned design managers and project managers, to meet project budgets and schedules for all mechanical discipline activities.
  • Perform early project design work such as conceptual studies, process flow diagram development, mass/energy balances, preliminary equipment sizing and selection, and general facility layout/arrangement.
  • Mentor and guide junior engineers, maintaining a comprehensive understanding of departmental design standards, applicable engineering codes, and Kiewit guidelines, providing suggestions and recommendations as needed.
  • Work independently on small projects, or as a part of a large multi-discipline team on larger projects, including working with both in-house inter-discipline engineers and construction partners to provide our clients the industry’s best of both engineering and operating facility. 
  • Train, mentor, and advise peers and support staff on proper application of industry standards and best practices.
     

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering   
  • QA minimum of 15 years’ experience performing mechanical design in the any one of the oil and gas, power or industrial industries
  • Experience in construction support, facilities commissions and startup and previous experience directing junior engineers is desirable
  • Demonstrated engineering design and management experience;
  • Professional Engineering (PEng) designation; 
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Preferred minimum of 3 years of industrial industry-related engineering experience.
  • Proficient in basic computing programs including the Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint).
  • Preferred experience utilizing AFT Fathom or AFT Arrow hydraulic simulation software (or equivalent).
