Position Overview
Kiewit is currently seeking a Registered Nurse to support our district health and safety initiative and lead our on-site health clinic. You will coordinate and implement nursing treatment procedures for use on site. You will provide leadership regarding company policy, treatment procedures, and professional accountability to Kiewit management. This role requires the ability to work independently and take direction from Kiewit’s contract physician to provide safe and responsible nursing care for the workers on site.
District Overview
Kiewit’s Western Canada District is headquartered in Vancouver, British Columbia. We primarily perform heavy civil projects specializing in earth moving, transportation, roadways, bridges, water resources, and underground utilities. We are looking for hard working individuals with a passion for construction who aren’t afraid to get their hands dirty! Our current opportunities are spread across the entire west coast of Canada.
Location
This position will support our Highway 5 Reinstatement Project in Merritt, BC, requiring rotational travel to the project site.
Responsibilities
- Provide primary nursing care for occupational and non-occupational illnesses and injuries.
- Management of the first aid room, supplies and equipment.
- Assuring compliance with government representative, company policies and procedures and levels of service delivery appropriate to operational needs.
- Provision of occupational health programs which help maintain a healthy workforce and minimize health risks to employees.
- Responsible for the safe and legal usage, storage and documentation of all medications available in the first aid room.
- Have a clear understanding of the OSHA Standard Criteria as presented in the “Rainbow Chart”, attached herein.
- Provide case management for the light/modified duty program in consultation with physician.
- Accountable for accurately records regarding medical information and maintaining confidentiality of that information.
- Participate in planning and project committee meetings when requested to do so.
- Participate in the emergency response team.
- Participate in the occupational health and safety committee meetings.
- Accountable, to immediate supervisor, for evaluation of health services provided for appropriateness and effectiveness.
- Responsible for maintaining professional license and certifications.
- Participate in daily site walk and site inspections.
Qualifications
- Must currently be a Registered Nurse
- Minimum 8 years nursing experience, critical care experience preferred.
- 3-5 years emergency and/or outpost nursing experience a must.
- Valid CPR, ACLS, BTLS/PHTLS, audit ATLS.
- Case management experience preferred.
- Strong computer skills.
