Position Overview

Kiewit Infrastructure Engineers (KIE) has an immediate opening for a dynamic Engineering Project Coordinator, reporting to a Design Engineering or Design-Build Manager in our growing infrastructure engineering and design management group. You will be part of a rapidly growing group will implement Kiewit’s tried and true Design Management program. We are a multi-faceted and leading-edge division of Kiewit with best-in-class technical expertise focused on the design-build delivery of infrastructure projects.

Kiewit Infrastructure Engineers is driving clients to turn to Kiewit during all stages of design-build projects. Through our integrated design and construction approach, our multi-disciplinary team works together to improve schedule, control costs and minimize risk. Our construction-focused engineers work collaboratively with our estimators and builders to design solutions that are innovative, constructible, and designed with a focus on safety. Clients benefit from the proven processes and tools used by Kiewit to minimize project risk. We are an in-house resource that supports projects throughout the company. You will be based on a project in Burnaby, BC. 


  • Assists and supports the Design Engineering or Design Build Manager in coordinating and reporting on the overall design progress, cost, schedule, quality, and constructability.
  • Coordinates the development of the design deliverables list and design schedule for the design.
  • Monitors the design submittal, permitting and approvals schedule to make sure the design team stays on track and elevates issues to the appropriate level.
  • Assists in the coordination of design meetings, tasks forces, and workshops, and ensures effective record keeping.
  • Manages the distribution of consultant and trade drawings and submittals.
  • Understands the design and construction specifications to ensure all requirements and commitments are being met, but not exceeded unnecessarily.
  • Manages RFI’s, submittals, and shop drawings to ensure technical completeness and resolution of issues, in support of the construction schedule.


  • 4-year degree in Engineering (or related field).
  • 2+ years of related engineering coordination or project controls experience at an engineering organization
  • Strong analytical skills
  • Exceptional attention to detail, and resourcefulness
  • Experience with MS Office including Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and Teams
  • Demonstrated experience in alternative delivery projects and pursuits an asset but not required
  • Strong organizational and time management skills
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks and issues and excellent communication skills.
  • Experience in design on large complex civil projects 
  • Ability to apply basic engineering/problem-solving principles to construction challenges
  • The ability to travel when needed
  • Professional registration or eligibility for future professional registration is an asset
