Position Overview

As a Operations and Maintenance Manager,  you will  support Regional Construction operations.  In this role, you will be responsible for coordinating, facilitating, and executing equipment activities across the Kiewit organization. You will oversee Construction Completion (CC) and operations and maintenance of the Project on behalf of the SPV.

  • Provide leadership to all aspects of the project
  • Ensure performance of the SPV's contractual obligations
  • Achieve business plan targets per the financial model and annual budgets
  • Build and maintain relationships with project stakeholders, including Client, Contractor, Shareholders, Operator and others. Be the prime point of contact for the Client at all times.
  • Carry out policies established by the Board
  • Deliver monthly written and oral reports to the Board and other Stakeholders
  • Manage public relations issues in close coordination with the Client and Operator
  • Work with the Finance Manager in maintaining an effective relationship with the Lenders and the Lender's Technical Advisor.
  • Ensure financial performance and appropriate resource allocation
  • Ensure systems and structures are in place for the effective management of the organization
  • Maintain quality surveillance system, in particular review and periodically audit Operator quality system
  • Identify, monitor and manage risks and report results
  • Maintain high safety standards of SPV and continually monitor and review Operator health, safety and environmental plans and any incidents.  Fulfill COR requirements for SPV, including associated training.
  • Ensure reports and notices are being delivered as required by SPV to Client, Shareholders and Lenders. Where required, draft such notices and assemble reports.
  • Ensure compliance with all Project and Finance Documents, legislative and regulatory requirements
  • Coordinate with SPV insurance advisor to place and maintain the required insurance
  • Manage Change Order and Small Works process
  • Manage any claims and/or operational/construction issues; coordinate discussions regarding same with the Client, contractor and operator as required
  • Ensure any non-compliance by any sub-contracting party is rectified accordingly, and provide relevant notices as required
  • Overall accountability to shareholders regarding the performance and compliance of the project
  • Manage transition from warranty phase to full operational phase including, outstanding defects and warranty items
  • Plan and manage lifecycle budgets and expenditures
  • Develop and regularly update lifecycle and rehabilitation program for the project assets
  • Investigate and utilize preventative methodologies to prolong asset life
  • Become involved in community programs and support
  • Monitoring of the day-to-day performance of Operations and Maintenance sub-contractor 
  • Such other related duties and responsibilities as assigned by the SPV Executive Committee from time to time


  • Ability to travel to construction sites and satellite offices as needed.
  • Excellent leadership skills accompanied by efficiency in time management required. Basic contract knowledge is considered an asset.
  • Broad knowledge of all types of equipment involved in heavy construction.
  • Experience in Equipment management and cost tracking.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of Basic computer skills.
  • Previous management experience and the ability to lead an equipment team.
  • Ability to effectively communicate, both verbally and in writing, with individuals at all levels of the organization.
