Position Overview
As an experienced Project Finance Analyst, you will focus on providing timely and relevant analysis and operational financial reporting as well as supporting team development and individual growth for Kiewit. Each project at Kiewit is run like a small business, with the Business Supervisor assisting in providing oversight over all the group’s projects ensuring critical tasks such as accounts payable (AP), accounts receivable (AR), project financials, payroll, human resources, internal control and compliance are executed appropriately in order to compile complete and accurate analysis and operational financial reporting. The Business Supervisor is expected to be skilled in executing these processes and utilizing the latest technology to analyze different types of revenue and cost components such as labor, expenses, construction equipment, materials, and subcontracts. This position is an owner of the month-end financial close process, the operational financial reporting package communicated to senior leaders and is integral in the overall success of the business management team.

District Overview
Kiewit’s Western Canada District is headquartered in Burnaby, British Columbia. We primarily perform heavy civil projects specializing in earth moving, transportation, roadways, bridges, water resources, and underground utilities. We are looking for hard working individuals with a passion for construction who aren’t afraid to get their hands dirty! Our current opportunities are spread across the entire west coast of Canada.
Location
This position is based at our Burnaby district office full-time. Occasional travel to our project sites may be required.
Responsibilities
- Determines cost of operations by establishing standard costs; collecting operational data.
- Identifies financial status by comparing and analyzing actual results with plans and forecasts.
- Guides cost analysis process by establishing and enforcing policies and procedures; providing trends and forecasts; explaining processes and techniques; recommending actions.
- Improves financial status by analyzing results; monitoring variances; identifying trends; recommending actions to management.
- Reconciles transactions by comparing and correcting data.
- Maintains database by entering, verifying, and backing up data.
- Recommends actions by analyzing and interpreting data and making comparative analyses; studying proposed changes in methods and materials.
- Increases productivity by developing automated accounting applications; coordinating information requirements.
- Protects operations by keeping financial information confidential.
- Maintains technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing publications.
- Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.
- Grow financial performance through analysis of financial results, forecasts, variances, and trends
- Create recommendations to be presented to management and executives
- Develop financial models to support valuation, planning, and forecasting
- Aid in the capital budgeting and expenditure planning processes
- Reconcile existing transactions through cross-referencing of incoming and outgoing data
- Conduct comparables analysis and market research to support internal financial analysis
- Maintain up-to-date technical knowledge of financial instruments, market conditions, and trends
Qualifications
- 4+ years’ experience in financial reporting and/or data analysis within a large (> $1 billion annual revenues), complex multinational organization
- Bachelor’s degree in: Accounting, Analytics / Data Visualization / Statistics, or Finance
- Expert knowledge utilizing complex ERP systems (SAP, Oracle) to prepare financial reporting and forecasts
- Advanced knowledge utilizing data visualization tools (Tableau, Power BI) to present complex financial analyses
- Expert knowledge utilizing the Microsoft Office 365 software suite to prepare and/or supplement financial reporting, forecasts and analyses
- Ability to travel up to 25%
