Position Overview

Would you like to purchase parts for vehicles and equipment for Kiewit?  What about negotiate with suppliers, vendors, and other representatives?  Individuals with experience in construction and on-road truck fleet roles as well as procurement experience is desired. We’re looking for a team player with the ability to work independently to meet deadlines, goals, and objectives.  Someone that is detail-oriented, highly motivated with ability to effectively manage time. This role specializes in procurement services to ensuring equipment, materials and services are consistently procured at the right price. We strive to offer an appropriate level of quality and ensure materials are delivered on schedule and in compliance with the OEM recommendations. 

Location

The role can be fulfilled in various location: Burnaby, British Colombia; Calgary, Alberta; Oakville, Ontario. Working remotely will be evaluated for the right profile of candidate. 

Responsibilities

  • Purchase the highest quality parts at the lowest possible cost as per specifications and required schedule by our equipment repair crew. 
  • Navigate supplier website and/or catalogs and procure the needed parts 
  • Replace OEM parts by quality equivalent aftermarket parts to provide better availability and/or cost saving
  • Monitor shipments to ensure goods come in on time and resolve problems related to undelivered goods
  • Follow company guidelines on procurement and understand the boundaries of responsibility
  • Lead the evaluation and monitoring of vendor performance to ensure compliance with obligations and determine needs for changes
  • Leverage vendors and subcontractors across multiple projects to create cost savings to projects
  • Share lesson learned with projects on cost saving items
  • Research and evaluate suppliers based on price, quality, selection, service, support, availability, reliability, production and distribution capabilities and the supplier’s reputation and history 

Qualifications

  • 5+ years’ experience in procurement for heavy equipment and/or truck fleet
  • Experience with repair parts, lubricants, ground engaging tools, DEF and ST&S 
  • Bilingual (French and English) strongly preferred.
  • Ability to work in collaboration with different clients
  • General knowledge of database utilization and Microsoft Office (Power Point, Word, Excel)
  • SAP Experience is interesting
  • Thorough understanding of all areas of procurement is desirable, including procurement, estimating, expediting and invoice paying 
  • Highly motivated, with a demonstrated passion for excellence and taking initiatives 
  • Strong work ethic, willing to do what it takes to get the job done right the first time 
  • Demonstrated commitment to ethics and integrity 
  • Passion for safety, with the ability to help us ensure that nobody gets hurt 
  • Strong interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills; dealing with vendors in Canada including Quebec.  
  • Team player with the ability to work independently to meet deadlines, goals, and objectives 
  • Strong organization, time management, and attention to detail
