Position Overview

We pride ourselves on delivering quality projects on-time or ahead of schedule, and are known for our expertise in aggressively managing and building major construction projects with demanding schedules and complex work components. The objective of the Kiewit Scholars Program is to enrich the classroom experience of construction and engineering students by providing opportunities for selected faculty members to gain relevant construction experience by working with Kiewit. Participating in this program is an investment in the future of the construction industry, because current professional experience will enable the Faculty Scholar to be more effective in the classroom by being able to share recent and relevant work experiences. Each educator will spend their Scholar Period on site of a construction project or in our estimating department in Irving, Texas with the intent of gaining relevant operations experience to bring back to their students. All the educators are supported by the Kiewit University Relations Program and the Placement District.

Kiewit's Water Facilities South group is one of Kiewit's leading water/wastewater districts specializing in constructing water treatment facilities, wastewater treatment facilities, and desalination plants. Although we are headquartered in Dallas TX, with regional offices in Miami FL and Atlanta GA, we also pursue various projects stretching across the country. We are looking for individuals who are passionate about infrastructure and committed to the construction industry as opposed to design. Because our people receive continuous and extensive training, hands-on experience and challenging responsibilities from the day they join our team, they quickly develop the expertise that has earned our district its reputation as the premier contractor in the southeast United States.


Kiewit's Water Facilities South Group is based in Irving, TX but leads work all over the southern region of the United States. including, but not limited to, Tampa FL, Miami FL, Atlanta GA, and Nashville TN. We relocate our teams based on the work that is available, combined with the development plans, skill sets and career goals of each team member. This means your Kiewit adventure is custom-designed to meet our shared needs. Job assignment location will be determined closer to your start date.

  • Be responsible for demonstrating the outcomes, professional skills and objectives of the scholar experience
  • Create a work plan that outlines the goals, objectives, and timelines of the scholar experience.
  • Execute agreed upon workplan to the best of your abilities with the guidance of a project manager.
  • Participate in bi-weekly check-in calls with your fellow faculty scholars.
  • Complete a mid and post experience evaluation to assess the impact of the experience on your learning.
  • Create 2 learning modules based on the knowledge gained from the experience. These modules will be shared with faculty partners via the Professor’s Portal.
