Position Overview

Join a leader in Precast Fabrication!  We are looking for a Piling/Girder Design Engineer/Estimator for our KIE-CON team.  In this role, you will focus on piling estimates - for foundations and girders, for many applications including Roads, Bridges, Marinas, and buildings.  As an Engineer/Estimator, you will provide insight and guidance to optimizing fabrication of piling and girders for our customers, as well as prepare, review and present completed precast prestressed piling/girder estimates for current and new clients who span North America.   Piling estimates are focused on the optimization of pile reinforcement (size of pile, detailing, size of reinforcement, for example).   You may lead and direct other engineers/estimators and provide estimating assistance and guidance to projects and customer, as well as perform cost analysis.

Location

The location for this position is in our fabrication facility in Antioch California.  We would offer relocation assistance to individuals willing to relocate to the area. 

Responsibilities

Develop complete precast prestressed estimates, but specifically precast piling estimates.
Develop complete precast prestressed shop drawings and design reinforcing to meet EOR design calculations
Review owner plans and specifications to develop a comprehensive understanding of the project; develop plan for the actual construction to serve as basis for the estimate.
Reviews all bid and contract documents 
Utilize engineer techniques and procedures to conduct investigation and adhere to standard company policy and procedures.
Stay abreast of trends and developments, such as new equipment, methods and procedures that are developing in the industry.
Consult with contractors, owners and engineers on various problems discovered during bid preparation, design, rates, schedules, etc.
Assist in estimating installation and trucking for precast product and develop relationships with subcontractors.

Qualifications

5+ years of construction experience with at least 2 years of experience in estimating on infrastructure projects, with piling estimating experience as part of those 2 years. 
Degree in engineering or related field is preferred or experience working hands-on in piling/girder fabrication. 
Extensive knowledge and demonstrated experience with highway, heavy civil, and/or concrete structures with a focus on precast concrete
Broad knowledge and ability to understand project scheduling, cost control, specifications, and engineering drawings.
Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Office products (e.g. Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint).
Experience with CAD 2D required for detailing;  3D Modeling software preferred.
Exceptionally strong attention to detail, oral and written communication, interpersonal and leadership skills
Possess strong analytical/mathematical and computer skills.
Good attention to detail with the ability to recognize discrepancies.
Knowledge of construction means and methods, costs and techniques, construction safety and current building code requirements.
