Position Overview

Kiewit Engineering Group is seeking an Early Career Structural CADD Designer in our growing Construction Engineering Services (CES) group at Oakville, ON office. We are looking for the ideal candidate to perform a variety of design and detailing tasks related to concrete and steel bridges, construction methods, and CADD production of conceptual and final design plans. You will be part of our rapidly growing Infrastructure Design Department, which includes structural, geotechnical, civil, drainage, roadway, rail, and materials disciplines, is a multi-faceted and leading-edge division of Kiewit with best-in-class technical expertise focused on the design-build delivery of infrastructure projects. The Structural Designer should be technically competent, and familiar with current tools/programs/software.

•    Working with engineering team to develop preliminary and final structural designs for temporary structures (steel, wood, concrete, manufactured items, etc.) supporting construction activities on Kiewit projects.
•    Detailing of structural elements, including concrete reinforcement and steel connections.
•    Using AutoCAD, Revit, 3D modeling and Civil 3D software to develop concepts and construction design documents.
•    Meeting project schedule requirements and deadlines; communicating progress with task lead.
•    Provide additional support on civil and geotechnical temporary designs
•    Follow company’s CAD and quality standards


•    0-2 years’ experience in CAD production of structural designs and plan sets.
•    Associate Degree or better preferred.
•    General knowledge of engineering principles and structural materials.
•    Ability to understand construction documents and design standards.
•    Background in bridge design and construction preferred.
•    Must be proficient with AutoCAD products
•    Basic skills in Microsoft Office products, Bluebeam and ProjectWise.
•    Knowledge of Revit and 3D modeling an asset.
•    The ability to clearly communicate and collaborate well with engineers and designers.
•    Critical thinking skills necessary with the ability to plan ahead and conceptualize.
•    Capable of recognizing discrepancies with strong attention to detail.
