Position Overview

Kiewit Infrastructure Engineers(KIE) is looking for a Civil Designer 2 for the Existing Conditions Team in our Lone Tree, CO office. This job position will perform tasks that support obtaining or modeling existing surface conditions from public, client or vendor data sets. The designer will also update existing surfaces models with new survey data when available. The Designer should have completed an associate degree program and be familiar with current technical tools, software, and CAD best practices. The Existing Conditions Team is the leading edge for estimation and construction within KIE. Our products provide the most accurate existing information allowing the KIE estimators the ability to produce the most accurate take-offs for the estimation phase of our projects.

This position is based out of our Lone Tree, CO office.


· Research available public data and create a surface for initial pursuit use

· Serve as a primary resource for LiDAR data processing on KIE projects

· Work with point cloud data collected from mobile, terrestrial and/or airborne collection methods

· Create surfaces from data from extracted feature lines or point cloud data

· Help conduct quality control on deliverables from the team

· Extract existing structures from point cloud data

· Translate requested extraction from KIE staff or partners

· Provide updates to existing surface models from completed survey requests

· Translate ideas, sketches, and specifications from our KIE staff or client into complete and accurate 3D models and/or working model


· An associate degree in computer aided design, 3D modeling, drafting or similar program experience

· 2-5 years’ experience in the computer aided design, modeling or drafting field

· Proficient in AutoCAD or MicroStation (2D & 3D)

· Experience with Civil 3D, Bentley InRoads, Trimble Business Center is an advantage

· General knowledge of engineering principles and materials for civil/structural work

· Ability to comprehend civil/structural contract drawings

· Critical thinking skills necessary with the ability to plan and conceptualize

· Capable of recognizing discrepancies with strong attention to detail

· Design or construction experience is an advantage

· Effective oral and written communication skills

· Basic skills in Microsoft Office products (Excel, Outlook, Word, PowerPoint)

Base Compensation: $48,291 - $72,437 
(Actual compensation is subject to variation due to such factors as education, experience, skillset, and/or location)
