Position Overview

Our staff leads and collaborates with Kiewit’s module fabrication and construction teams to approach construction-driven engineering with a focus on safe, cost effective, and innovative designs that achieve client expectations and further Kiewit’s legacy of excellence.  This position focuses on the design, application, and specification of mechanical equipment for the processing of renewable feedstocks such as animal fats and vegetable oils for diesel fuel production.

This position will be based out of our Energy Corridor office


This position focuses on the design, application, and specification of mechanical equipment for the processing of renewable feedstocks such as animal fats and vegetable oils for diesel fuel production. The candidate must be experienced with equipment used in the pretreatment of feedstocks and the associated wastewater processes as well as equipment used for diesel hydrotreating.
Responsibilities include:
•    Specify equipment scope and technical requirements for equipment suppliers and technology providers.
•    Evaluate equipment sizing, design, and performance to meet process duty requirements.
•    Perform technical evaluations for selection of equipment suppliers and technology providers.
•    Review suppliers’ data and documents for compliance with project specifications. Act as the communication focal point for technical information and data exchange between the supplier, client, and other engineering disciplines.
•    Support construction, commissioning, and startup of equipment.
•    Develop criteria, guidelines, and best practices for the equipment to provide for a safe, efficient, cost-effective, and reliable end product.


•    Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from a four-year college or university.
•    At least 10 years of experience in equipment applications for pretreatment and hydrotreating processes for the production of renewable diesel fuel.
•    Advanced knowledge and application of:
o    API and ASME codes and standards for equipment design, manufacturing, and testing.
o    Best practices associated with equipment used in the production of renewable diesel fuel.
o    Materials selection for suitability with the process operation.
•    Strong understanding of underlying engineering principles and best practices.
•    Strong critical thinking skills.
•    Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and time management skills.
•    Strong interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.
•    Commitment to safety, ethics, and integrity.
