Traffic Engineer - Kiewit Infrastructure Engineers

Position Overview

Kiewit Infrastructure Engineering (KIE) has an immediate opening for a dynamic Traffic Engineer in our growing Traffic/ITS Group in Lone Tree, Colorado (Denver Metro area); Westlake, Texas (Dallas-Fort Worth Metro area); Seattle, Washington; or Raleigh, North Carolina.  You will be part of our rapidly growing Infrastructure Design Department, which includes structural, geotechnical, MOT, pavement, utilities, drainage, roadway, rail, traffic, and materials disciplines. This infrastructure design group is a multi-faceted and leading-edge division of Kiewit with best-in-class technical expertise focused on the design-build delivery of infrastructure projects.  

As a Traffic Engineer, you will be expected to coordinate with project teams in Canada, Mexico, and the United States to design and produce traffic engineering components for design/build and other alternative delivery projects in North America.

This role will be based out of one of our offices at the following locations:
•    Lone Tree, Colorado (Denver metro area)
•    Westlake, Texas (Dallas-Fort Worth metro area)
•    Seattle, Washington
•    Raleigh, North Carolina

Responsibilities

•    Assist with the planning, analysis, and design of transportation projects across North America, working as part of a multi-disciplinary team.
•    Support traffic engineering tasks from preliminary through final design in areas such as:

• Traffic Analysis and Modeling
• Signing and Pavement Markings
• Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS)
• Traffic Signals
• Roadway Lighting and Electrical Systems

•    Apply traffic engineering principles, standards, and best practices to develop safe and efficient transportation solutions.
•    Review and evaluate traffic operations, construction phasing, and maintenance of traffic plans to support project delivery and safety objectives.
•    Coordinate with engineers, designers, and other technical disciplines to develop integrated project solutions.
•    Assist with the preparation of technical reports, calculations, design documentation, and project deliverables.
•    Participate in design reviews and incorporate feedback from senior engineers, project teams, and clients.
•    Support project teams in meeting quality, schedule, and budget objectives

Qualifications

•    3+ years of experience supporting transportation projects with responsibilities related to traffic engineering analysis, design, or operations.
•    Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or a related field.
•    Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certification or successful completion of the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) exam required.
•    Experience in one or more of the following traffic engineering disciplines:

• Traffic Analysis and Modeling
• Signing and Pavement Markings
• Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS)
• Traffic Signals
• Roadway Lighting and Electrical Design

•    Working knowledge of MicroStation/OpenRoads Designer (ORD) or AutoCAD/Civil 3D.
•    Familiarity with traffic analysis and simulation software such as Synchro/SimTraffic, VISSIM, TransModeler, HCS, or similar tools.
•    Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills with the ability to collaborate effectively in a team environment.
•    Ability to manage multiple assignments and contribute to projects in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
