Position Overview
The Business Development Director is responsible for identifying, developing, and capturing engineering, EPCM, EPC, design-build, and construction opportunities within the Mining, Minerals & Metals market throughout Canada. This role is focused on developing new client relationships, expanding existing accounts, and building a robust pipeline of future opportunities that align with Kiewit’s strategic growth objectives.
The ideal candidate is a highly motivated sales and business development professional with a proven track record of generating revenue growth, developing strategic client relationships, and successfully positioning organizations for major project opportunities. Experience within mining, minerals, metals, engineering, EPCM, EPC, construction, or industrial markets is preferred but not required.
District Overview
The Kiewit Energy marketing, creative, and proposal team provides get-work services to multiple markets including power generation, transmission and distribution, renewables, industrial, oil and gas, and water/wastewater. We focus on winning work with high-quality, client-focused sales strategies through creative communication techniques. Our team brings vast experience and expertise to all projects we support across the company.
Location
Vancouver, British Columbia is the preferred location for this position. Candidates located in the Greater Toronto Area will also be considered based on experience, industry relationships, and overall fit. Exceptional candidates based elsewhere in Canada may be considered on a case-by-case basis. Travel throughout Canada and North America of approximately 50% is expected.
Responsibilities
- Develop and execute business development strategies to drive growth within the Mining, Minerals & Metals market.
- Build and maintain relationships with mining owners, developers, engineering partners, equipment suppliers, and industry stakeholders.
- Identify, qualify, and develop new business opportunities while maintaining an accurate sales pipeline.
- Establish strategic account plans and growth strategies for key clients and target accounts.
- Lead client meetings, presentations, and relationship-building activities.
- Collaborate with engineering, operations, estimating, and executive leadership teams to develop capture plans and win strategies.
- Represent Kiewit at industry associations including PDAC, CIM, AME, and other relevant organizations.
- Support proposal development through client intelligence, competitive positioning, and value proposition development.
- Monitor industry trends, market conditions, and emerging opportunities across Canada.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Engineering, Construction Management, Mining Engineering, Metallurgy, or related field preferred.
- Minimum 10 years of successful business development, account management, sales, or client engagement experience.
- Demonstrated success developing new client relationships and converting opportunities into awarded work.
- Existing relationships within the Canadian mining industry are a strong asset.
- Experience supporting large capital projects, studies, engineering services, EPCM, EPC, or construction programs preferred.
- Strong understanding of strategic account management and consultative selling principles.
- Excellent communication, presentation, and relationship-building skills.

Base Compensation: $263,000/yr - $275,000/yr
