Position Overview

Kiewit has a large and diverse equipment fleet. Maintenance of such a large and expensive fleet requires a well-structured and properly executed maintenance program which involves the participation of everyone on the project.  The Transport Superintendent is responsible for coordinating, facilitating, and executing equipment activities in support of all construction projects. 

District Overview

Kiewit Equipment Services (KES) helps to ensure the profitability of Kiewit projects through the improved equipment utilization and mechanical reliability by delivering world-class equipment and service.

This position is based in The Woodlands, TX.

Responsibilities

•    Follow instructions of Project Manager.
•    Plan upcoming projects with Project Manager:
o    Develop schedule and execution plan for scope of work.
o    Identify equiApment needs for scope with Project manager.
o    Planning efforts with engineering team for scope of work.
o    Ensure team is implementing TSCD regulations. 
o    Coordinate equipment/ personnel mobilization with job team.
o    Coordinate logistics for equipment and gear.
o    Coordinate scope/ schedule with job team.
o    Coordinate job team support efforts with job team.
o    Have daily communication with job team during their POD.
o    Manage operations, workflow, and schedule within budget.
•    Submit daily work reports to Project Manager and properly file in SharePoint.
•    Have weekly conversations with Project Manager about completed milestones, schedule and upcoming operations.
•    Look ahead and plan consecutive tasks for the day/ week.
•    Direct and coordinate assigned Foreman and crew daily.
•    Submit daily inspections for assigned equipment to Project Manager and properly file in SharePoint.
•    Recognize the capacities and capabilities of the assigned Goldhofer PST/SL-E combination.
•    Recognize the capacities and capabilities of the assigned Enerpac SBL gantry system.
•    Ability to operate forklifts.
•    Ability to operate manlifts for arial inspections of equipment.
•    Direct/ coordinate rigging of components and cargo.
•    Supervision of connecting/ building Goldhofer modules to create different combinations according to manufacturer’s specs.
o    Ensure proper use of hand and power tools to make connections.
o    Ensure proper connection of hoses to fittings on trailer modules.
o    Ensure trailer modules are properly bolted and cambered.
o    Inspect and verify trailer combination is properly configured, valved, and programmed once complete.
•    Oversee proper loading, lashing, and transport of high value cargo.
•    Inspect and verify transport routes are properly constructed, and no obstructions will impede operations. 
•    Spot, flag, and support transport operators.
•    Interpret and implement the use of construction prints and engineered drawings.
•    Supervise building of hydraulic gantry systems according to manufacturer’s specs. and engineered drawings.
o    Including proper crib, shim placement and level of track.
o    Properly gauge and align track according to engineered drawings.
o    Sizing generator for assigned equipment.
o    Verifying proper routing of power cords.
o    Inspect and verify gantry system is properly constructed.
•    Supervise rigging of cargo to hydraulic gantries using proper rigging technics.
•    Oversee the cleanup/ pick up of work area at the end of each shift.
•    Coordinate maintenance for transport and gantry equipment.
o    Service engine, change filters, grease component, check tire pressures with support of on-site maintenance team.
•    Instruct others how to properly use a torch, grinder, and air arc to clean barges or rail cars.
•    Willing and able to assist project team with other tasks not pertaining to your scope when your duties are complete.
•    Understand and implement Kiewit’s heavy haul standard operating procedures.
•    Understand and implement Kiewit’s corporate crane policies and procedures.

Qualifications

•    Above average fine motor skills.
•    Steady hand eye coordination.
•    Able to lift 50lbs.
•    Proficient in English; reading, writing, speaking.
•    Basic math skills.
•    Advanced computer skills: including use of Microsoft word, excel, outlook, Blue Beam, SAP, and SharePoint.
•    Capacity to adapt and overcome challenges encountered during objectives. 
•    Capacity to solve complex problems.
•    Sharp communication skills.
•    Able to follow instructions given by Project Manager.
•    Ability to read a tape measure and spirit level.
•    Advanced knowledge of rigging and rigging components.
•    Knowledge of hand signals for cranes and forklifts.
•    Ability to travel at a moment’s notice.
•    Advanced knowledge interpreting construction prints and engineered drawings.
•    Have a good work ethic.
•    Ability to communicate tasks and needs to assigned crew.
•    Ability to work well with others to achieve a common goal.
•    Ability to efficiently and successfully lead a team.
•    High school diploma or equivalent. 
•    10 plus consecutive years’ experience in heavy transport and rigging.
•    Experience operating Goldhofer PST/SL-E self-propelled trailers.
•    Experience operating Enerpac SBL gantry systems.
•    Advanced understanding of crane setup and lifting operations.
