Position Overview

The Crushing Superintendent is responsible for overseeing all aspects of aggregate crushing operations on heavy civil construction projects. This role provides leadership for crushing crews, pit and quarry operations, equipment maintenance, production planning, safety compliance, quality control, and cost management. The Crushing Superintendent ensures that aggregate production meets project specifications while maintaining the highest standards of safety, productivity, environmental compliance, and operational excellence.


This position supports major infrastructure initiatives across Texas, Louisiana, and Mississippi, where our teams are advancing projects that enable AI data centers, improve energy reliability, and strengthen community resilience. These efforts are driven by close collaboration between our Infrastructure and Power groups, with a shared focus on utility infrastructure development.
Your leadership ensures that grading operations are executed with precision and coordination, contributing to the successful delivery of reliable, future-ready infrastructure across the South Central region.

District Overview

Kiewit's South Central District is one of Kiewit's leading infrastructure districts specializing in heavy civil, transportation, and water resource markets. Projects you could be working on could include mass grading, drainage, paving, utility and more.  Although most of our work is regionally based in the south-central region of the United States, we also pursue various projects stretching across the United States. We are looking for individuals who are passionate about infrastructure and committed to the construction industry as opposed to design.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee daily production activities for crushing, screening, conveying, and aggregate processing operations.
  • Manage pit and quarry production to meet project schedules and production targets.
  • Monitor material quality and ensure compliance with project specifications.
  • Optimize crusher setups, plant configurations, and production processes to maximize efficiency.
  • Coordinate drilling, blasting, crushing, screening, and stockpile management activities as required.
  • Monitors crews for organizational structure, sizing, crew mix ratios, and wage compliance.   
  • Reviews and monitors cost and man-hour budget for installation process and develops a staff, facilities, equipment, and tool requirement plan.
  • Develop short- and long-term production plans aligned with project schedules.
  • Coordinate with Project Managers, Construction Managers, Superintendents, and Engineers to ensure timely material delivery.
  • Forecast labor, equipment, and material requirements.
  • Monitor production rates and adjust operations as needed to achieve project goals.
  • Bilingual proficiency a plus.

Qualifications

  • 5–15+ years of experience in heavy civil construction, aggregates, mining, quarrying, or crushing operations.
  • Minimum 2 years of supervisory experience managing crushing or aggregate production operations.
  • Extensive knowledge of crushing and screening equipment, including jaw crushers, cone crushers, impact crushers, VSI crushers, screens, conveyors, and related plant systems.
  • Experience with drill-and-blast operations preferred.Understanding of aggregate production, material specifications, and quality control procedures.
  • Strong working knowledge of construction scheduling, budgeting, and cost control.Experience managing union and/or non-union craft labor.
  • Ability to lead crews in fast-paced construction environments.
