Position Overview

The successful candidate will be responsible for simultaneously managing multiple project pursuits and operational execution while serving as an effective market leader for growing team members. He or She will be expected to have a firm understanding of the overhead distribution market across the eastern United States, both the technical elements and within the context of the region – major clients, competitors, available talent pool, etc. The successful candidate should have existing, strong relationships with multiple targeted clients in his or her  territory and should have established contact with other potential, secondary clients that could be leveraged in the  future. The role requires the successful candidate to engage both new and existing clients to solidify strong relationships and best position his or her team to build a stable and growing backlog. The successful candidate should have experience in project/program sorting to determine if a project/program should be bid or not bid based on an effective evaluation of the impactful variables. The role requires an understanding of project/program and business line financials including reporting these results for the regional office(s) and to senior management. He or She will help build and execute short-term and long-term market strategy to establish the best course forward in support of the overall Power Delivery business line.

Location

This position is based out of the Raleigh, North Carolina office, with remote option available within the larger southeastern or mid-Atlantic geographic area. The ability to travel at least 25-30% to client and project locations is expected.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and grow the distribution business by building relationships throughout each clients’ engineering 
  • operations organization.
  • Partner internally with construction operations to develop integrated design-build distribution execution model.
  • Drive business growth through expanding service offerings within existing clients.
  • Champion communication with clients and promote client partner culture in collaboration with business 
  • development team.
  • Sponsor business development pursuits, key partnerships, strategy and initiatives, including development and 
  • review of proposals and estimates.
  • Provide project/program sponsorship and monitor performance routinely using pre-defined metrics (progress, 
  • financial health, schedule adherence, risk and opportunities, claims).
  • Build teams, including appropriate levels of management, needed to ensure quality execution. Coordinate 
  • staffing needs and availability routinely with greater Power Delivery organization.
  • Grow operational capability and scale through talent acquisition initially in Raleigh, NC with future 
  • establishment of additional offices throughout the eastern US.
  • Promote development and mentorship of local teams, include mapping of career paths, goals and 
  • opportunities.
  • Work closely with “Get Work” teams and other departments ensuring maximum exposure of the Company’s 
  • capabilities, including an understanding of the offerings of other Kiewit business units and the presentation of 
  • those capabilities when appropriate.
  • Manage P&L financial performance, revenue delivered, achieved net gain and billable utilization.
  • Actively collaborate in development of business planning and market strategy.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science degree (B.S.) in civil or electrical engineering from an ABET accredited university
  • At least ten years’ experience performing power delivery engineering related duties
  • At least five years’ management experience leading project teams performing distribution engineering and design services
  • Knowledge of engineering standards applicable to the power delivery industry
  • Professional Engineering license (required)
  • PMP Certification (desired)
  • Professional Engineering license (required)
  • Legally able to work within the United States for any length of time
  • Highly motivated, with a demonstrated passion for excellence in taking initiative
  • Strong interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills; fluent in English language
  • Fast-paced office environment; must be able to interact professionally with all levels of management while simultaneously manage a diversified workload and challenging situations efficiently and effectively.
