Our procurement team, known as Kiewit Supply Network supports all of our market areas and focuses on delivering the best equipment, materials and services to our organizations. We are adding a Supply Chain Contract Specialist to our team in Phoenix, to support our Western region Infrastructure projects. Our Infrastructure team builds roads, bridges, dams, rail and transit, aviation and underground projects. In this role, you will own contracts from start to finish for your assigned materials/equipment and services. You will be expected to negotiate T's and C's on contracts, purchase materials, manage pricing and quantities, monitor shipments and resolve material and equipment issues. Location
This position can be based out of our Lone Tree office near Denver, CO OR Vancouver, WA.
Must be local to one of those locations. No relocation assistance will be provided for this position.
Responsibilities
- Develop, review and negotiate terms and conditions of supplier contracts for raw materials, equipment and services. Manage supplier contracts and supplier relationships to ensure suppliers meet our standards, specifications and client requirements.
- Research/evaluate suppliers based on price, quality, service, support, availability, reliability, production and distribution capabilities and suppliers reputation and history.
- Manage change orders impacting the contract, and handle all aspects for delivering quality materials/equipment for your projects.
- Ensure our material buyers are purchase the highest quality materials at the lowest possible cost in correct amounts per specifications and drawings.
- Confer with project team, stakeholders and vendors to address defective or unacceptable goods or services and determine corrective action.
- Leverage vendors/subcontractors across multiple procurements to create cost savings to projects.
- Monitor delivery times/shipments for your materials/equipment and work with project team and logistics team to ensure goods come in on time and resolve problems related to undelivered goods.
- Prepare/issue Request for Proposals (RFP’s) and evaluate vendor/subcontractor proposals to identify vendors/subcontractors who meet project constraints of budget and schedule at the estimating, execution and site purchasing levels. Develop and manage material and vendor subcontracts for the project. Interface with Engineering and/or construction teams to provide insight about status of cost, quality and schedule for materials/equipment for your assigned project(s).
- Assist in the development of company-wide procurement templates.
- Work with project team, supply chain team and legal to resolve escalated, complex, or disputed contract issues.
- Develop and maintain vendor relationships and manage supplier-specific vendor template negotiations.
- Support procurement staff meetings and provide legal communication to the team as needed.
- Willing to relocate in the future to a project site to manage a larger project.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Engineering, Supply Chain Management, Construction Management or related field, and 2+ years experience in supply chain/contracts, performing functions as outlined above in civil sector or in the military. We encourage military and veterans to apply. If no degree, a minimum of 4 years in supply chain and contracts functions is required.
- Supply chain experience must include experience working with the RFP/Bid process, contract development/negotiation and execution and supply chain execution. Experience working with engineers, estimators, buyers, logistics and expediting in the procurement process.
- Prefer candidate with at least one year working in construction, ideally in transportation.
- Minimum of 2 years' negotiation experience with suppliers, with a demonstrated ability to draft, negotiate and manage material/equipment/services subcontracts.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (Power Point, Word, Excel) and general knowledge of database utilization to create contracts. SAP experience is a plus.
- Highly motivated, skilled communicator, with a demonstrated passion for excellence and taking initiative to get the job done right the first time.
- Strong work ethic that can work effectively as an individual contributor and as part of a team with the ability to build strong relationships.
- Passion for safety, with the ability to help us ensure that nobody gets hurt.
- Willing to relocate and work at a project site within a year to two years.

Base Compensation: $63,000/yr - $74,000/yr
