Position Overview

The Nurse will provide safe and responsible nursing care for the workers on site. Responsible for coordinating and implementing nursing treatment procedures. Will provide leadership regarding company policy, treatment procedures and professional accountability to project management.

District Overview

The projects in Eastern Canada include highways, bridges, public transit, mining site development and open-pit operations, hydroelectric plants, wind farms, dams, and industrial facilities. They support the construction and mining industries and operate in Eastern Canada.

This role will be in Ottawa supporting the OLRT project

Responsibilities

· Provide primary nursing care for occupational and non-occupational illnesses and injuries.

· Provide occupational health programs that help maintain a healthy workforce and minimize health risks to employees

· Ensure safe and legal usage and storage and documentation of all medications available in the first aid room. Have Collected data and obtained records about workplace injuries through comprehensive health assessments

· Assessed employees and performed medical examinations when injured confidentially and professionally.

· Provided first aid, over-the-counter medications, and immunizations (tetanus boosters, flu clinic, etc.) as needed

· Educated employers and employees on how to prevent accidents and injuries and how to provide basic first aid

· Provided case management of injuries via telehealth for workers not on site and scheduled follow-ups, as needed, on-site or through telehealth

· Worked with safety personnel to safeguard workers through participating in safety walks and through the development, implementation, and evaluation of safety policy and procedures to ensure compliance of legislative requirements

· Provided employee and employer with return-to-work assessments and modified work offers to ensure appropriate accommodations are provided for safe and gradual return to work

· Have a clear understanding of the OHSA Regulations as presented in the ‘Rainbow Chart’

· Liaised between management, occupational health physician, safety team, claims team, human resources, and other health specialties (internal and external resources) for the best plan of care for the employee and their well-being

· Conducted follow-up appointments and adjusted treatment plan according to employee’s health status

· Complete point-of-care testing for post-incident and reasonable suspicion A&D testing

Qualifications

  • Must currently be an occupational nurse, registered nurse, or nurse practitioner 
  • Minimum 5 years of nursing experience, critical care experience preferred
  • Ability to work and be onsite approximately 8-10 hours/day 
  • Valid CPR, ACLS, BTLS/PHTLS, audit ATLS
  • Case management experience preferred
  • Strong computer skills

Base Compensation: $110,000/yr - $160,000/yr
(Actual compensation is subject to variation due to such factors as education, experience, skillset, and/or location)
