Position Overview
As a Superintendent for Kiewit, you will play a pivotal role in both project and company success. You will function as a field supervisor, overseeing Foremen, laborers, and craft workers. Your responsibilities will include organizing work methods, scheduling, cost control, ensuring conformity with drawings and specifications, and maintaining high standards of workmanship. Additionally, you will foster positive working relationships with clients, architects/engineers, suppliers, subcontractors, and jobsite staff.

Responsibilities
- Safety: Champion safety and lead by example. Ensure Toolbox talks and Supervisor Safety Meeting printouts are reviewed with the crew. Complete at least one LSA/STCKY assessment per week per crew.
- Mentorship: Mentor and develop fellow Kiewit staff, including Field Engineers (FE), Foremen (FM), and craft workers.
- Work Planning: Plan work effectively, ensuring materials, tools, and rigging are ready before beginning operations. Oversee work package creation and biweekly review with crews.
- Client Relations: Implement and maintain a program to ensure good client relations involving on-site staff. Initiate and attend supplementary and regular meetings with clients to resolve problems and plan strategies.
- Cost Management: Oversee and approve monthly job cost updates and quarterly cash flow projections. Review, approve, and negotiate change orders.
- Quality Control: Drive an Operations-Led Quality Culture, ensuring all work is done right the first time to avoid rework. Verify that the work is built to the requirements and report any deviations.
- Daily Operations: Maintain a daily diary for record-keeping purposes. Ensure timely completion of performance evaluations for direct reports. Review and approve/reject promotions up to the General Foreman.
- Schedule Management: Develop and implement a plan for project completion and turnover. Create accurate 3-week schedules using unit rates, quantities, and hours.
- Housekeeping: Manage housekeeping, ensuring the work area is always left spotless at the end of the shift.
- Field Presence: Be present in the field during key times (e.g., morning meetings, lunch breaks, end of shift) to lead and support your crew.
Qualifications
- 8+ years of construction experience, with 3+ years in a Superintendent/Leadership capacity (preferably on infrastructure projects such as roads, bridges, dams, water/wastewater treatment plants, etc.).
- Self-starter with high motivation and the ability to work under minimal supervision.
- Quick learner with the ability to understand various processes regarding Kiewit’s policies, procedures, and software programs.
- Strong problem-solving skills.
- Excellent organizational, administrative, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Proven experience in leadership, safety, negotiations, planning, and contract administration.
- Ability to access all areas on a construction project site.
