Position Overview

As a CAD Survey Engineer you will lead the preparation and coordination of complex survey deliverables, including construction staking calculations for bridges, roadway, drainage, buildings, 3D models for survey field crews and machine control and project as-built drawings.

This role works closely with District CAD Manager, Project Survey Team, Project Managers, and Engineers to ensure technically accurate, high-quality deliverables while maintaining CAD standards, project schedules, and quality control procedures. This position also provides mentorship to junior staff, supports departmental process improvements, and serves as a technical resource for survey drafting workflows and best practices.

District Overview

Kiewit's Southeast District specializes in heavy civil, transportation and water resource markets, and has played a significant role in building infrastructure throughout the fast-growing southeastern United States. Since the 1970s, we have built projects from Maryland to Florida and west to Louisiana. Our operations include highways, airports, mass transit, tunnels, water and wastewater facilities, dams and infrastructure work.

Location

This position is based out of our Orlando, Florida area office.

Responsibilities

  • Provides potential solutions to complex issues.
  •  Reviews contract drawings for accuracy
  •  Acts as a field resource to assist construction in field resolution on issues.
  •  Reviews application of standards and can make suggestions on improvements needed
  • Serves as a resource to department, projects and construction.
  •  Balances individual performance requirements with the demands for team participation.
  •  Performs assigned work efficiently and effectively to maximize person productivity.
  •  Complete as-builts by utilizing Request for Information (RFIs), Engineering Change Notices   (ECNs) and red-marked drawings from construction.

Qualifications

  • Associate degree or High School diploma
  • 5 years' minimum relevant experience.
  •   Self directs work with limited supervision.
  •  Provides guidance, leadership and training to less experienced technicians.
  •  Leads small team to complete tasks for multiple projects.
  •   Work with project team as representative and coordinates work within discipline department.
  •   Adjusts to varying demands of work and performs well.
  • Communicates effectively with supervisor and members of immediate department.
  •  Works collaboratively across departments and involves others in solving problems.
  •   Supports project teams and departments in a positive and productive manner. Works well with others to accomplish common goals and objectives.
  •  Serves as technical resource to engineers, designers and construction teams.
  • Experience utilizing a computer-aided drafting program (MicroStation, Civil 3D, Trimble Business Center) and have knowledge of the latest computer operating systems; thorough understanding of spreadsheets and databases.
  • Continuously looking for ways to improve processes for customers and makes recommendations for improvements
