Position Overview

Kiewit Technology Group (KTG) is looking for a Lead Data Engineer to join our team and collaboratively define and drive data solutions for the enterprise.  As a Lead Data Engineer you will lead the technology direction in Kiewit’s efforts to deliver data and reporting solutions aligned to project, departmental, and divisional needs. A successful candidate must excel in technical leadership, have a high attention to detail, time management skills, and a proven track record of leading teams in the successful adoption of technology in the Data & Analytics domain. Additionally, the Lead Data Engineer needs to be a capable communicator, adept at managing multiple responsibilities and able to work collaboratively with business partners at all levels of the organization.

Location

This position is required to report onsite daily to 12312 Port Grace Blvd, LaVista, NE 68128.

Responsibilities

  • Design, implement, and deploy scalable data platforms in cloud and on-prem targets.
  • Establish, implement and document software engineering patterns, tooling patterns and data patterns
  • Provide thought leadership and guidance for data engineering practices.
  • Design and Development of data pipelines using Informatica, Snowflake, Azure Data Factory, Azure Data Lake
  • Drive and execute the technical workstream of data initiatives. 
  • Creation of process and procedures for the technical delivery of data solutions (security, ingestion, curation, orchestration, etc.) 
  • Act as domain expert for Snowflake in a collaborative environment to implement data management best practices and application of various data warehousing concepts 
  • Communicate different solution and technology options and articulate the short/long-term impact to department leaders for each proposed solution.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s and/or master’s degree in computer science, information systems, or equivalent combination of education and relevant industry experience 
  • 5+ years in Snowflake and related ELT/ETL tooling (Informatica, DBT, etc.)
  • Experience with Azure Cloud Architecture, Snowflake Architecture, Azure Data Lake, Spark, Databricks, Azure Data Factory. 
  • Background in programming/scripting languages such as SQL, Python.
  • Expertise in Snowflake cost measurement, performance tuning, and workload optimization
  • Expertise in data management and data security fundamentals 
  • Working knowledge of various data pipeline design patterns, refactoring, testing, CI/CD, etc
  • Working knowledge of Data Visualization tools (eg Tableau, PowerBI, Sigma) preferred.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and time management skills
  • Consistently demonstrates the ability to successfully negotiate conflict.
  • Consistently demonstrates critical thinking and problem-solving capabilities.
