Position Overview
In support of the District Quality Manager, this role provides quality leadership and support to multiple commercial building construction projects throughout the greater Omaha region. The position serves a growing and increasingly complex business unit, helping project teams effectively implement quality requirements and manage project quality risks. The position partners with project teams and area executive leaders to promote effective implementation of company and business unit quality requirements, assisting projects from pursuit and planning through turnover and closeout.
District Overview
Kiewit Building Group specializes in constructing office buildings, industrial complexes, education and sports facilities, hotels, hospitals, transportation terminals, science and technology facilities, manufacturing, retail and special-use facilities and extensive interior construction with tenant improvements. Its capabilities include general construction, construction management, design-build, design-assist and turn-key project development. Kiewit also provides fast, accurate preconstruction project management services. During the past 10 years, Kiewit has performed construction services for more than 1,100 vertical construction projects, totaling $7.5 billion in revenue.
Location
The project is based in Omaha, NE. Regular travel throughout the Omaha regional area and surrounding business unit projects is required. Periodic overnight travel may be necessary based on project assignments, training activities, and business needs. Infrequent travel outside of the region may be required to support business unit as directed by the District Quality Manager.
Responsibilities
• Support development, implementation, and maintenance of project quality plans and supporting processes.
• Assist project teams with interpretation and application of contract requirements, project specifications, construction documents, codes, standards, and company quality procedures.
• Conduct project quality assessments, audits, and field reviews to verify work and process execution conforms to district and company requirements and identify opportunities for improvement.
• Facilitate or support quality-related training, workshops, and lessons learned sessions through both classroom and field-based instruction.
• Lead or assist with investigation, documentation, and resolution of quality issues, deficiencies, nonconformances, and Client concerns.
• Facilitate Root Cause Analysis (RCA) efforts and development of corrective and preventive actions to prevent recurrence.
• Support development and execution of Inspection and Test Plans (ITPs), pre-activity meetings and other coordination efforts, mockups, and initial inspection activities.
• Review quality-related project documentation including submittals, shop drawings, inspection records, testing reports, turnover documentation, and quality metrics.
• Monitor project quality performance, identify trends, and assist in development of continuous improvement initiatives and best practices across the district.
• Participate in customer meetings, consultant interactions, and project issue-resolution efforts as a quality subject matter resource.
Qualifications
• Minimum five (5) years of commercial building construction experience in a project management role, such as Field Engineer, Project Engineer, or Asst. Project Manager.
• Minimum three (3) years of dedicated quality management or quality control experience supporting commercial building construction projects.
• Experience supporting projects across multiple commercial building market sectors, including projects with construction values exceeding $50 million.
OR
• Minimum ten (10) years of commercial building construction experience in a field supervisory role, such as General Foreman, Superintendent, or Senior Superintendent.
• Demonstrated experience leading planning and putting work in place in a supervisory capacity, and issue resolution activities on complex commercial building projects, including projects with construction values exceeding $50 million.
