As a Sr. Operations Manager with Kiewit's Building Group, you’ll lead impactful projects across our vertical construction markets. You will also provide oversight of the estimation and complete project management of multiple project teams.

District Overview

Kiewit Building Group specializes in constructing office buildings, industrial complexes, education and sports facilities, hotels, hospitals, transportation terminals, science and technology facilities, manufacturing, retail and special-use facilities and extensive interior construction with tenant improvements. Its capabilities include general construction, construction management, design-build, design-assist and turn-key project development.  Kiewit also provides fast, accurate preconstruction project management services. During the past 10 years, Kiewit has performed construction services for more than 1,100 vertical construction projects, totaling $7.5 billion in revenue.

This position will be responsible for projects in our greater Omaha market. Responsibilities

  • Effectively manage client relations, project administration, and direction of suppliers and subcontractors
  • Competently manage all phases of planning and execution on projects or segments of work
  • Ensure team capabilities align with project demands while fostering a culture of continuous improvement and professional development.
  • Establish project procedures consistent with contractual documents and quality plans for all construction work; determine and oversee all project controls, schedules, and budgets.
  • Serve as project representative with client, general contractor, subcontractors, and vendors at kick-off meetings, job walks, project reviews, and other meetings and correspondence.
  • Coordinate training and compliance measures to ensure project procedures are followed.
  • Identify and secure necessary approvals for all changes in project scope, budget, and/or schedule.
  • Ensure best practices such as safety, quality, environmental, and compliance standards ae followed while executing the project on schedule and meeting quality expectations
  • Assists and supports Executive leadership with strategy development and business initiatives within the organization.
  • Oversight and Collaboration during the Preconstruction, Estimating, and proposal development process for new and existing business opportunities.
  • Leads Contract negotiations, solutions, and development 
  • Involvement in the community and industry as an influential leader through participation in organizations and memberships. 
  • Ensures that staffing resources are sufficient on projects and assists in employee development, recruiting, and retention.

 

Qualifications

  • 10+ years’ experience in Building, Vertical Construction, or Infrastructure market. 
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering; Construction Management; Business, OR similar type experience in a related position that provides knowledge and experience required for this position
  • Prior experience serving as Project Manager, Sr. Project Engineer, or Lead Field Engineer of construction teams, where responsibilities include construction, engineering, estimating, contracts management, and client relations
  • Knowledge of commercial construction standards including scheduling, contracts, coordinating and managing all disciplines and subcontractors
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills
  • Competent in the use of computer software applications used for project control and administration, including Microsoft Word, Excel, Access and Outlook
