Position Overview

Operating with a high degree of independence, the Senior Immigration Advisor combines advanced technical immigration knowledge, strong judgment, and exceptional stakeholder service to support foreign national employees, candidates, and internal partners across the organization.

District Overview

Kiewit’s HR Operations Immigration team manages all employment‑based immigration needs, ensuring employees receive clear guidance and a smooth, compliant experience. By partnering closely with employees, managers, and legal experts, the team helps support mobility, work authorization, and long‑term talent needs across the company.

Location

This is a full time in office role located at our downtown Omaha, NE Kiewit Headquarters building. 

Responsibilities

  • Serve as a trusted resource for foreign national employees and candidates, providing clear non-technical guidance on immigration processes, timelines, and expectations.
  • Deliver a consistent, compliant, and high-quality employee and stakeholder experience across business units and locations.
  • Align immigration strategies with business needs, workforce planning, and compliance requirements.
  • Advise internal partners on immigration implications related to employment actions, including transfers, promotions, leaves, and terminations.
  • Drive continuous improvement in immigration processes, reporting accuracy, data integrity, and employee experience.
  • Partner with leadership to enhance case management systems, reporting tools, and program governance.
  • Track and report key metrics such as case volume, timelines, costs, and outcomes to support decision-making.
  • Manage the full lifecycle of employment-based immigration matters handled by external counsel, from intake through adjudication, including proactive communication.
  • Act as the primary point of coordination between employees, business units, HR partners, and external immigration counsel.
  • Review case strategies, timelines, and deliverables to identify risks, gaps, or inconsistencies and escalate issues appropriately.
  • Track case milestones and service level expectations to ensure timely and accurate execution.
  • Serve as the day-to-day liaison with external immigration law firms.
  • Review and approve filings and supporting documentation prior to submission to government agencies.
  • Ensure outside counsel adheres to company policies, quality standards, escalation protocols, and billing guidelines.
  • Ensure compliance with USCIS, DOL, DOS, and other applicable regulatory requirements, as well as internal audit standards.
  • Maintain accurate immigration records and public access files.
  • Monitor regulatory changes and assess potential impacts to business operations and mobility programs.

Qualifications

Required

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience
  • 5+ years of corporate immigration experience (in-house and/or law firm)
  • Strong knowledge of U.S., Canadian and global employment-based immigration programs.
  • Experience partnering with outside immigration counsel
  • Ability to manage multiple cases and priorities in a fast-paced environment

Preferred

  • Paralegal certification preferred
  • Experience in a large or complex organization
  • Familiarity with immigration case management systems
  • Experience supporting audit or compliance activities #LI-AK1
