Position Overview
Kiewit is seeking a Sr. Manager, Foundational Data Management to help shape the next generation of enterprise data capabilities. In this role, you will lead efforts to design, implement, and mature core data management services that make trusted, high-quality data accessible across the company. Your expertise in data-related capabilities such as strategy, architecture, modeling, stewardship, data quality, metadata management, and information lifecycle management will be pivotal in elevating Kiewit’s data ecosystem to new levels of maturity.
You will partner closely with other data and AI leaders, domain-aligned data managers, IT, and business stakeholders to drive scalable, sustainable data practices. Your work will directly shape how Kiewit builds, manages, and trusts its data foundation – driving better decisions across all parts of the business.

Responsibilities
Strategy and Leadership
· Develop and communicate a forward-looking strategy for foundational data management aligned with enterprise goals and industry best practices.
· Serve as a trusted advisor to data leaders, architects, and business stakeholders on leveraging foundational data services effectively.
· Define and track KPIs and milestones that demonstrate measurable progress toward enterprise data maturity.
Core Data Management Services
· Oversee the delivery and evolution of key foundational data services:
- Data Strategy & Data Stewardship Frameworks
- Data Architecture & Modeling
- Metadata Management & Data Catalog
- Data Lineage & Impact Analysis
- Master Data Management Standards
- Data Quality Assessment & Monitoring
- Foundational Data Management Principles
· Partner with data and platform teams to ensure scalability, interoperability, and alignment with modern data stack components while preserving the integrity of Kiewit’s data.
Execution and Change Management
· Work with diverse teams to simplify complex concepts and co-create understanding that drives adoption of data management related best practices and business support.
· Champion data stewardship and quality across technical and non-technical teams.
· Lead pilots and proof-of-concepts to refine metadata tooling, integration, and workflows.
· Foster a culture of data literacy and continuous improvement across the organization.
Collaboration and Influence
· Work closely with Kiewit’s foundational data management team, domain managers, business leaders, and engineering teams to identify gaps and opportunities.
· Collaborate with data architects and product teams to ensure alignment between foundational services and technical implementation.
· Navigate enterprise organization structures with confidence, building relationships and momentum across diverse teams.
People Leadership
· Mentor and coach a small but growing team of data management professionals.
· Cultivate a high-performance, collaborative culture grounded in trust, curiosity, and accountability.
· Encourage both individual ownership and collective success.
Qualifications
· 10-15 years of progressive experience in data management roles within large organizations (ideally $5B+ in revenue).
· Proven success in implementing data governance, data quality, metadata, or MDM programs.
· Deep understanding of data architecture and holistic, systems-thinking.
· Experience working in or closely with data architecture teams and enterprise IT.
· Strong understanding of modern data stack components (data lakes, catalogs, lineage tools, ETL pipelines, reporting and analytic technologies, etc.).
· Experience with metadata and governance tools like Collibra, Alation, Informatica, Atlan, or similar is preferred.
· Strong written and verbal communication skills with executive presence.
· Adept at balancing strategic vision with hands-on execution.
· Bachelor's or master’s degree in data science, information systems, computer science, or related field preferred.
· Experience in construction, engineering, energy, or manufacturing industries is a plus.
· Familiarity with ERP systems (e.g. SAP) is advantageous.
