Position Overview

The Payroll Tax Analyst is responsible for coordinating weekly, monthly, quarterly and annual payroll tax activities and maintaining corresponding general ledger accounts. This individual will also be responsible for research and resolution of agency notices. Supporting timely and accurate balancing and preparation of payment requests for all payroll related employee and employer taxes. While the initial focus of this position is Canada Payroll Tax, the role will grow to include US Payroll Tax.

Our services include non-core, yet essential, functions of our businesses including accounts payable, accounts receivable, change control, human capital management, payroll, project initiation, compliance and continuous improvement.

The Payroll Tax Analyst position is part of the Kiewit Business Services Payroll Reporting department within the Payroll group.

Location

This is a full time, in office role, reporting to our LaVista, NE campus. 

Responsibilities

Primary Roles and Responsibilities

  • Annual T4 and RL1 filing including facilitation of year end process related to the filings
  • Coordinate amended returns with Canada Revenue Agency and Revenue Quebec with ADP
  • Reconcile Payroll Tax General Ledger accounts
  • Managing Worker’s compensation accounts, tables, rates, and annual filing
  • Payroll tax and benefits adjustments to employee tax document (T4 and RL1)
  • Process and remit weekly, monthly, and quarterly tax payments
  • Research and clear refund, penalty and interest notices received from taxing jurisdictions
  • Research and resolve payment and filing discrepancies
  • Prepare monthly journal entries
  • Setup and maintain garnishments
  • Provide excellent customer service to all internal and external Kiewit departments; understand Kiewit’s core business and promote a sense of urgency toward business critical issues
  • Collaborate with co-workers, internal and external Kiewit departments to promote continuous improvement and process excellence
  • Manage assigned cases in Service Now
  • Reliable and consistent attendance

Secondary Roles and Responsibilities

  • Support and participate in collaboration activities to promote and implement continuous process improvement including automation
  • Perform other work-related tasks as needed or assigned

Qualifications

Required Qualifications

  • Minimum three years of general Accounting, Payroll Tax or Payroll experience
  • Working knowledge of computers and experience in the use of Microsoft Outlook, Excel and Word
  • Highly motivated and self-directed; initiative and a sense of urgency to get things done
  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills

Preferred Qualifications

  • PCP Certification – Payroll Compliance Practitioner
  • Knowledge of Canada Payroll taxation
  • Fluent in French, speaking and writing
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration or equivalent
  • Prior SAP experience
  • Prior ADP tax service experience
  • Prior Equifax experience
