Position Overview
The Retirement Benefits Specialist II independently administers Kiewit Corporation’s defined contribution retirement programs in the United States and Canada. This role is responsible for accurate plan administration, compliance support, and employee and retiree guidance while applying established policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements. This candidate serves as a knowledgeable resource within the retirement benefits team and supports process improvements and cross-functional coordination.
District Overview
DHO Stock Registrar is a centralized, shared service function responsible for the administration and governance of Kiewit’s Employee Ownership Plan and Retirement Savings Plans for the United States and Canada. The team partners with HR, Finance, Legal, and external service providers to ensure accurate recordkeeping, regulatory compliance, and a consistent participant experience. The group is focused on operational integrity, risk management, and continuous improvement in support of Kiewit’s ownership culture.

This position is a full time in-office role located in Omaha, NE.
Responsibilities
Retirement Plan Administration
- Administer U.S. 401(k) and Canadian RRSP plans, including enrollments, contributions, loans, distributions, rollovers, retirements, and RMDs.
- Oversee plan setup, amendments, restatements, SPDs, SMMs, and ongoing document maintenance.
- Reconcile data between HR systems, payroll, and recordkeepers; research and resolve discrepancies.
- Manage loan repayment inquiries and RRSP contribution adjustments tied to payroll timing.
Compliance & Regulatory Oversight
- Apply working knowledge of ERISA, IRS, DOL, and CRA regulations to ensure compliant plan operations.
- Coordinate annual compliance activities, including nondiscrimination testing, BRF testing, audits, Form 5500, SAR distribution, and Student Debt Match/Discretionary Match processes.
- Monitor regulatory changes and support implementation of updates such as Secure 2.0 Roth Catch-Up and Super Catch-Up provisions.
- Maintain internal controls, procedures, and plan documentation; identify risks and recommend improvements.
Retirement Communications & Education
- Develop and execute annual communication strategies for Manulife and Fidelity plans.
- Oversee required compliance communications, including SMMs and SARs.
- Lead beneficiary designation campaigns and review/approve member communications from vendors.
- Support employee and retiree education on plan provisions and retirement processes.
Employee & Retiree Support
- Serve as a primary contact for inquiries related to eligibility, transactions, and plan rules.
- Provide clear guidance and escalate complex cases appropriately.
- Ensure a positive participant experience through timely, accurate support.
Vendor & Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Partner cross collaboratively to ensure accurate data flow and alignment across systems.
- Coordinate with recordkeepers, trustees, auditors, and consultants to resolve administrative issues.
- Host monthly partnership meetings with Manulife and Fidelity and collaborate on timelines, deliverables, and compliance tasks.
- Cross train with the Employee Stock Ownership team to support shared processes and related activities
Qualifications
Required
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business, Finance, Accounting, or a related discipline, or equivalent experience.
- 3–5 years of experience in retirement plan administration or employee benefits operations.
- Solid working knowledge of defined contribution retirement plans and applicable U.S. regulatory requirements.
- Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Proficiency with HRIS, payroll systems, and Microsoft Excel.
Preferred
- Experience supporting retirement plans in a large, complex, or multi-jurisdictional organization.
- Working knowledge of Canadian RRSP administration and CRA reporting requirements.
- Experience using Fidelity PSW and SAP.
- CEBS, QKA, or similar professional certification.
