Position Overview
Come Fly With Us! Kiewit owns, operates and maintains a fleet of aircraft which includes 9 Learjet 70/75's and 1 Challenger 300 to support travel for Executives, key members of our staff, and customers. Midwest Aviation, the flight department for Kiewit Corporation, is hiring an Operations Intern. As a motivated Aviation student, you’ll have the opportunity to gain hands-on experience in a corporate aviation environment and learn how different roles work together to meet the unique demands of the industry. Throughout the internship, you’ll gain exposure to a variety of operational functions while building valuable skills and insight into the aviation field. This position will begin in Fall 2026 and continue through the 2026–2027 academic year.
District Overview
Midwest Aviation is Kiewit’s own private flight division. We operate out of a private hangar at Omaha’s Eppley Airport, and out of Conroe, TX and Newburgh NY.
Location
This position will be based out of our Omaha, NE hangar located at the Omaha Eppley Airport - 3709 Doolittle Plaza, Omaha, NE 68110.
Responsibilities
• Aircraft and crew scheduling – Coordinating the assignment of crewmembers and aircraft to trip requests, including last minute trips and unscheduled diversions.
• Flight operations – Managing the logistical aspects of trips while taking into consideration aircraft limitations, FARs, security, airport location, minimum runway lengths, available fuel, weather, ground transportation, catering and customs as required.
• Aircraft maintenance –Coordination of scheduled and unscheduled maintenance, monitoring required inspection intervals, spare parts inventory, inspection of shop tools and hangar safety.
• Operational budgeting – Forecasting annual budget requirements and monitoring variances, long range capital outlays/future planning, exposure to accounting functions applicable to flight departments.
• Training – Selection and scheduling of initial and recurrent training sessions plus supplemental training
• Safety Management System – Analyzing and tracking hazard/incident reports and working with our Safety Committee to propose risk mitigating strategies.
You will also have the opportunity to ride along on observation flights in order to better understand how the aircraft assists Kiewit in meeting its overall business objectives.
Qualifications
• Enrolled in an Aviation Bachelor's Degree Program with at least junior standing at the beginning of the Fall 2026 semester
• Ability to work during the Fall 2026 through Spring 2027 school year
• Educational standing with a 3.0 or higher GPA
• Ability to work approximately 20 hours a week with flexibility within normal business hours
• Interest in a business aviation career
• No restrictions in passing background check for KOMA Airport ID
• Highly motivated, with a demonstrated passion for excellence and taking initiative

• Passion for safety, with the ability to help us ensure that nobody gets hurt
