Position Overview

The Microsoft 365 Principal Platform Engineer leads Kiewit’s transition to modern enterprise operations by advancing the capabilities, governance, and adoption of Microsoft 365 platforms. This role is responsible for developing roadmaps and executing initiatives that modernize how Kiewit provisions, secures, manages, and supports enterprise technology services across endpoint management, productivity, security, collaboration, automation, and AI.

This is a full time in office role located on our LaVista, NE campus. 

Responsibilities

Modern Enterprise Operations Strategy & Delivery

  • Lead roadmap, governance, backlog, and lifecycle strategy for Microsoft 365 capabilities that modernize enterprise operations across endpoint management, productivity, collaboration, security, automation, administration, and AI.
  • Plan and drive modernization initiatives such as migration from legacy domain-dependent processes toward scalable, cloud-enabled, Entra-managed device lifecycle practices.
  • Evaluate, onboard, and operationalize new enterprise administration and management capabilities beyond Intune, ensuring they align with governance, security, support, adoption, and operational readiness requirements.
  • Align Security, Identity, Infrastructure, Service Desk, Enterprise Architecture, Procurement, Compliance, and business teams around standards, priorities, risks, and operational needs.

Communication and Adoption

  • Communicate platform value, governance standards, policy changes, user experience, security benefits, and support expectations to technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Facilitate cross-functional decisions that balance platform standards, security requirements, operational constraints, and user impact.
  • Define and report upon relevant success measures.

Qualifications

  • 7+ years of IT experience supporting, administering, or managing enterprise technology platforms, preferably across Microsoft 365, endpoint management, identity, security, infrastructure, collaboration, or enterprise administration.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft 365 capabilities such as Intune, Microsoft Entra ID, Conditional Access, Defender for Endpoint, Teams, SharePoint, OneDrive, Purview, Microsoft 365 admin center, governance, and reporting.
  • Experience modernizing enterprise operations through cloud-first administration, legacy migration, automation, policy standardization, governance improvement, security enhancement, or operational process redesign.
  • Understanding of modern endpoint and identity practices, including Autopilot, Entra-managed devices, compliance, application deployment, endpoint security, and reduced reliance on traditional Active Directory or Group Policy models.
  • Demonstrated ability to define business needs, build roadmaps, evaluate solutions, manage delivery risk, launch platform capabilities, and communicate across technical, operational, and business audiences.

 

Bonus Points:

  • Advanced experience with Microsoft 365 administration, governance, reporting, automation, or adoption across Intune, Entra ID, Defender, Purview, Teams, SharePoint, OneDrive, Windows 365, or Copilot.
  • Experience modernizing legacy endpoint, identity, or administration models, including SCCM/MECM, co-management, Group Policy modernization, domain-join reduction, or Entra-managed device strategies.
  • Experience with enterprise service management practices and platforms such as ServiceNow, including incident, request, change, problem, knowledge, asset, or configuration management
  • Familiarity with Power Platform, Graph API, PowerShell, automation, analytics, or reporting used to improve Microsoft 365 administration and operational efficiency.
