Position Overview

The Learning Manager owns Kiewit University's evidence-based learning-method standards and evaluation strategy to ensure continuous improvement across learning programs. You will manage how KU measures the impact of training, manage the standards that define sound instructional design and delivery across the university, and translate what the data tells you into real changes to KU's curriculum and programs. You'll partner closely with the KU Program Manager and Instructional Design team, who own day-to-day school readiness and delivery, to make sure those changes land.

At Kiewit, the scale of our operations is huge. Our construction and engineering projects span across the United States, Canada and Mexico, improving and connecting communities with every initiative. We depend on our high-performing operations support professionals — they're the glue that holds multiple areas of the business together and the catalysts that make things happen. We're always pushing new limits. You can too

District Overview

Kiewit University is Talent Development's flagship function, charged with aligning the company on standard role-based expectations and training. Our team partners directly with Operations and Engineering leadership to understand what the business needs, then builds and delivers the schools, curriculum, and programs that meet that need. We are a growing team inside a growing company, and this role is part of that next chapter — expanding the evaluation and learning-methods discipline that keeps KU's growth evidence-based rather than ad hoc.

Location

This position is based in our Omaha Headquarters/Kiewit University location in downtown Omaha, Nebraska. This is not a remote opportunity. This role requires travel up to 25% of the time.

Responsibilities

KU Evaluation Strategy

  • Own Kiewit University's evaluation strategy — designing pre- and post-training assessments, determining what data to collect, and building the processes to collect it consistently across schools and programs.
  • Analyze assessment and evaluation data to identify what's working, what isn't, and where KU curriculum or delivery needs to change.
  • Use evaluation findings to drive continuous improvement of KU curriculum and programs, in partnership with the KU Program Manager and Instructional Design.

Evidence-Based Learning-Method Standards

  • Drive Kiewit's evidence-based learning-method standards — the criteria that define what sound instructional design and delivery look like across Kiewit University.
  • Stay current on evidence-based and adult-learning best practices and bring external research and leading practice into Kiewit's own standards.

Partnership & Execution

  • Direct how evaluation results and learning-method standards translate into curriculum and program changes, partnering with the KU Program Manager and Instructional Design team on execution.
  • Partner with subject matter experts across the business to validate that KU content and training methods reflect how the work actually gets done.
  • Provide overflow support to Talent Management on Pulse Check assessments; Talent Management retains ownership of that process.

Qualifications

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Instructional Design, Education, Organizational Development, Industrial/Organizational Psychology, or related field.
  • 8+ years of progressive experience in learning & development, instructional design, or training evaluation.
  • Demonstrated experience designing and running training evaluation or assessment strategies — translating data into curriculum or program decisions.

Skills & Competencies

  • Working knowledge of evidence-based and adult-learning methods, and the ability to translate that knowledge into practical standards others can apply.
  • Strong data analysis skills — comfortable designing assessments, interpreting results, and using findings to make the case for change.
  • Excellent partnership and consultation skills; able to work cross-functionally with Instructional Design, Advising, and subject matter experts across the business.
  • Strong project management and organizational skills; able to manage multiple schools/programs' evaluation needs at once.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite; experience with LMS/LXP platforms, data tools (e.g., Power BI), and artificial intelligence platforms (e.g., Microsoft Copilot, ChatGPT, etc.) preferred.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in Instructional Design, Education, Organizational Development, Industrial/Organizational Psychology, or related field.
  • Experience building or scaling a training evaluation function inside a large, complex, or project-driven organization.
  • Experience in a corporate university, technical training, or construction/engineering industry environment.
  • Certification in instructional design, evaluation methodology, or a related discipline (e.g., Kirkpatrick Four Levels, CPLP). #LI-AK1
