Corporate Communication is seeking a talented candidate for a full-time three-month internship supporting both Kiewit's Digital Media & Marketing and Media & Public Relations groups. This role is designed for an individual who is ready to contribute and gain experience across all aspects of corporate communications. This intern will help the team execute strategic communication initiatives that support Kiewit's business objectives and reputation.

This position is based in Omaha, NE.
Responsibilities
• Researching, writing, editing and proofreading content for a variety of external communication channels.
• Developing and coordinating digital content that supports Kiewit's website, social media channels and digital marketing initiatives, including assisting with campaign planning, content calendars and performance tracking.
• Contributing to media relations activities by researching reporters and media outlets, working on news releases and media materials, monitoring news coverage and supporting responses to media inquiries.
• Supporting reputation management efforts by monitoring traditional and social media, identifying emerging issues and trends, and assisting with communication strategies as needed.
• Verifying facts, project information, dates, statistics and other supporting information to ensure accuracy across communication materials.
• Collaborating on photography, video, multimedia and storytelling projects that highlight Kiewit's people, projects and culture.
• Actively using AI tools responsibly for research, writing, editing, brainstorming and workflow improvement.
Qualifications
We are seeking a recent college graduate (or graduating senior) with a degree in Journalism, Public Relations, Communications, Marketing or a related field. Candidates should demonstrate strong writing ability and possess prior communications internship experience.
The ideal candidate will have:
• Strong writing, editing and verbal communication skills.
• Strong understanding of AP Style and editorial best practices.
• Demonstrated experience developing content for websites, social media and other digital communication channels.
• Familiarity with media relations, journalism and/or public relations fundamentals.
• Experience using AI tools to improve writing, editing, research and productivity.
• Strong organizational and project management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
• Outstanding attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality, accurate work.
• A proactive, self-motivated mindset with the ability to work independently while collaborating effectively across teams.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office; experience with Adobe Creative Suite or similar creative software preferred.
• Experience with photography, videography or video editing is a plus.
