Position Overview
Kiewit Building Group is searching for an internship candidate to join the team for our Summer 2026 internship program. This intern will provide support for a wide array of media, public relations, social media, marketing communication, community outreach and government affairs projects.
District Overview
Kiewit Building Group specializes in vertical construction, we build office buildings, industrial complexes, education and sports facilities, hotels, hospitals, transportation terminals, government buildings, science and technology facilities, retail and special-use facilities, and extensive interior construction with tenant improvements. Our capabilities include all facets of construction and engineering including: general contracting, construction management, design-build, design-assist and turn-key project development.
Location
The position is based in Omaha at the company’s headquarters.
Responsibilities
- Research and write key company content shared through Kiewit internal and external channels
- Vet and research media opportunities, as assigned
- Create talking points and key messages in response to external speaking engagements or interview opportunities
- Monitor traditional and social media
- Help implement strategic and proactive PR plans among the company’s different business sectors
- Brainstorm creative ideas for newsroom, marketing, social media and intranet content
- Develop and write content for external marketing communications, including ads and sponsorships, website content and social media campaign
- Participate in government affairs outreach, research and reporting
- Help organize and support community outreach events such as collection drives, volunteering and speaking engagement
Qualifications
The following are basic qualifications for the role:
- Undergraduate junior or senior majoring in communications, marketing, public relations, journalism, or a related field
- Excellent writing, researching and verbal communication skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office products and Adobe Creative Suite
- High level of motivation, willingness to learn and work independently
- Outstanding attention to detail and accuracy; strong organizational skills
- Proactive, assertive and happy to assist others with a variety of tasks
- Ideal candidates have existing knowledge of AP Style

• Perform work safely and effectively. Understand and follow oral and written instructions, including warning signs, equipment use, and other policies.
• Work during normal operating hours to organize and complete work within given deadlines. Work overtime and weekends as required.
• May work at various different locations and conditions may vary
Base Compensation: $18.00/hr - $22.00/hr
(Actual compensation is subject to variation due to such factors as education, experience, skillset, and/or location)
