Kiewit Nuclear Solution is looking to hire a professional senior structural engineer with dedication to renewable energy to join our growing team.
District Overview
Kiewit Nuclear Solutions is a full-service engineering, project management and construction provider operating across North America. Our experience spans all aspects of the nuclear market from carbon-free, small modular reactors to US Department of Energy science, environmental and nuclear security mission capabilities. With these broad capabilities, we operate in power utility, renewable energy, and industrial and infrastructure markets.
Location
This position is based in Oakville, Ontario, with flexible work arrangements available. Occasional travel to project sites and client offices may be required.
Responsibilities
• Prepare quantities, cost estimates, and other supporting documentation for projects.
• Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and regulatory endorsed industry codes and standards for all deliverables.
• Follow and ensure compliance with Kiewit Nuclear Solutions Quality Assurance.
• Ensure all designs meet Canadian nuclear regulatory standards (e.g., CSA N291, CSA N287, CNSC requirements).
• Support estimates, FEED, Detailed engineering, procurement, and construction support activities.
• Prepare project design criteria, design calculations, and technical specification documents.
• Support structural department tools and workflows initiatives.
• Support projects delivery within specified project budget and schedule.
• Interface with designers and review drawings prior to sealing them.
• Interface with other disciplines and stakeholders and ensure multi-disciplinary review of all related engineering documentation.
• Provide guidance to Junior staff to develop engineering documentation.
• Comply with engineering and project change management requirements.

Qualifications
• A bachelor’s degree in Structural Engineering is required.
• A master’s degree in Structural Engineering is preferred.
• Licensed Professional Engineer (P. Eng) in Ontario is required.
• A minimum of 15 years of experience in structural engineering is required, with at least 5 years in nuclear projects.
• Deep understanding of Canadian nuclear codes and standards (e.g., CSA N291, N287, N289).
• Demonstrated leadership in managing engineering teams and delivering complex, multi-disciplinary projects.
• Effective communication and stakeholder engagement skills, including experience in client-facing roles.
• Proficiency in structural analysis and design software such as GT STRUDL, STAAD.Pro, or SAP2000, etc.
• Knowledge of Canadian Building Code (NBC), CSA standards, and seismic design requirements.
• Proven ability to manage competing priorities and deliver high-quality results under tight deadlines.
• Eligible to obtain Security Clearance with Public Services and Procurement Canada.
• Knowledge and experience of CSA N287.3 and/or ASME BPVC Section III is an asset.
• Proficiency in ANSYS MAPDL is an asset.
• Proficiency in SSI analysis is an asset.
• Direct experience with OPG (Ontario Power Generation) is an asset—either as an employee, contractor, or consultant.
• Active OPG security clearance is an asset.

Base Compensation: $138,000/yr - $145,000/yr
(Actual compensation is subject to variation due to such factors as education, experience, skillset, and/or location)
