Position Overview
The Senior Scheduler, reporting directly to the Project Controls Director, plays a pivotal role in managing and supporting the scheduling activities for multiple projects within our innovative New Nuclear Development Program. This position demands a strategic thinker with extensive experience in project scheduling, who can ensure timely and cost-effective project delivery through meticulous planning and monitoring.
As a key member of the project controls team, you will contribute to the overall success by coordinating schedules, analyzing risks, and providing insightful reports that align with project goals and budgets.

Responsibilities
- Lead and manage the creation and upkeep of comprehensive project schedules, ensuring detailed alignment with overarching project baselines, budgets, and risk management frameworks.
- Engage actively during proposal development by accurately estimating scheduling resources, contingencies, and timelines to support competitive and realistic bids.
- Develop and maintain resource-loaded outage schedules, meticulously considering shift patterns, calendars, and operational intricacies for effective project execution.
- Coordinate and synchronize project schedules across multiple databases, including client platforms, to maintain consistency and transparency throughout all project phases.
- Monitor integration and progress of subcontractor and supplier schedules, fostering seamless coordination and proactive issue resolution.
- Organize and facilitate regular internal progress meetings to assess schedule adherence, identify variances, and communicate updates to all stakeholders.
- Conduct thorough critical path method (CPM) analyses along with variance, risk, and contingency assessments to pinpoint potential project risks and develop mitigation strategies.
- Prepare detailed weekly look-ahead schedules, actively highlighting deviations from plans and recommending effective corrective actions to maintain project momentum.
- Implement and maintain stringent change management processes that capture and assess the impact of commercial, contractual, and internal project changes, ensuring transparency and accurate documentation.
- Develop and deliver comprehensive earned value management (EVM) dashboards and reports that provide clear visibility of schedule progress, resource utilization, and performance metrics.
- Provide expert guidance, coaching, and mentorship to junior scheduling team members, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and excellence within project controls practices.
- Collaborate closely with clients and subcontractors to support detailed scheduling activities, enhance risk management processes, and contribute to effective schedule risk analysis and decision-making.
Qualifications
- Ability to work from our Oakville, Ontario office.
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Quantitative Sciences, Construction Management, or a closely related field, demonstrating strong foundational knowledge relevant to project scheduling.
- Minimum of 10 years of progressive experience in project scheduling, specifically within nuclear or large-scale infrastructure projects, showcasing the capability to handle complex assignment scopes.
- Advanced expertise in Primavera P6 and Microsoft Office Suite; familiarity with SAP, estimation software, and other project management tools is a significant advantage.
- Proven experience in outage, maintenance, or turnaround scheduling environments, understanding the unique challenges and operational requirements these projects present.
- Comprehensive knowledge of various contract types, including fixed price and time & materials contracts within engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) contractor settings.
- Hands-on field experience in construction projects, providing practical insights that enhance scheduling realism and effectiveness.
- Exceptional analytical and critical thinking skills, with a demonstrated ability to adapt to evolving project dynamics and work collaboratively within diverse teams.
- Meticulous attention to detail with a strong commitment to maintaining schedule integrity, accuracy, and quality assurance.
- Outstanding verbal and written communication skills tailored to effectively engage with a wide range of stakeholders, including clients, subcontractors, and internal teams.
- Proven ability to operate in fast-paced, dynamic project environments using innovative problem-solving approaches and a strategic mindset.
- Recognition as a Project Controls expert through certifications such as PMI Scheduling Professional (PMI-SP) or Association for the Advancement of Cost Engineering (AACE) certifications.
- Experience managing stakeholder relationships and contributing meaningfully to claim avoidance, negotiation, and dispute resolution is highly desirable.
- A strategic approach oriented towards project portfolio management that supports alignment with organizational goals and drives project success.

Base Compensation: $120,000/yr - $170,000/yr
(Actual compensation is subject to variation due to such factors as education, experience, skillset, and/or location)
