Responsibilities

  • Perform integrated engineering analyses to fulfill project requirements and achieve target dates.
  • In this position, you will be responsible for piping analysis work on new generation nuclear projects and DOE projects, and will interface with systems engineering, structural engineering, piping design, and support design groups, for the design of piping systems and pipe supporting elements
  • Reconciliation of pipe stress reports for as-built conditions
  • Utilize Octave Aspect Nuclear Pipe Stress software
  • Prepare analytical reports determining the reactions of piping on equipment and structures
  • Interpret and apply code requirements
  • Review proposed piping support systems, identify issues, and recommend appropriate, cost-effective solutions
  • Interface and exchange engineering details between external contacts including equipment suppliers, clients, and installation contractors
  • Manage workload to meet project commitments
  • Consult with client and others on field-related issues including follow-up reports or design modifications
  • Coordinate and provide guidance to other engineers, project managers, client personnel, and suppliers to ensure a complete and timely design
  • Author and review designs, specifications, analyses, and drawings in compliance with engineering principles and applicable standards.
  • Prepare and review design concept drawings and models for equipment using input from various technical disciplines.
  • Recognizes, defines, and resolves problems within assigned area
  • Compliance with strict quality assurance standards and on time delivery
  • Travel (less than 25% of time)

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related engineering discipline from an accredited university.
  • Minimum 5 years of relevant piping design experience in industrial, nuclear, power generation, or heavy industrial projects.
  • Registered Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) in Ontario (or eligible for registration with Professional Engineers Ontario) is preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of ASME B31.1 (Power Piping) and ASME B31.3 (Process Piping).
  • Familiarity with the ASME Boiler and Pressure Vessel Code (BPVC), CSA standards, and applicable Canadian nuclear industry codes and standards for the design and procurement of nuclear-grade equipment.
  • Experience performing piping stress analysis using Bentley AutoPIPE or equivalent piping analysis software is considered an asset.
  • Working knowledge of engineering design practices, including design verification, interdisciplinary coordination, interference checking, tolerance analysis, and GD&T.
  • Experience collaborating with multidisciplinary engineering teams, designers, fabricators, and construction personnel throughout the design lifecycle.
  • Experience preparing and reviewing PFDs, P&IDs, piping isometrics, pipe support drawings, general arrangement drawings, and equipment layouts.
  • Familiarity with 3D design platforms such as Bentley OpenPlant, AutoCAD Plant 3D, AVEVA E3D, SmartPlant 3D, or similar design tools is an asset.
  • Strong attention to detail with the ability to produce high-quality, accurate engineering deliverables.
  • Excellent communication, organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to work effectively in multidisciplinary teams.

Base Compensation: $125,000/yr - $175,000/yr
(Actual compensation is subject to variation due to such factors as education, experience, skillset, and/or location)
