Position Overview
The Civil Estimator will prepare detailed estimates for civil scopes of work supporting the project. This role will perform quantity takeoffs, develop pricing, and collaborate with engineering, procurement, and operations teams during estimate development.
District Overview
Eastern Canada District's projects include highways, bridges, mass transit, mine site development & open pit operations, hydroelectric powerhouses, wind-power plants, dams & industrial. They serve the construction and mining industries and operate in Eastern Canada.
Location
This position is based in our office in Oakville, Ontario.
Responsibilities
- Prepare conceptual, budgetary, and detailed estimates for civil construction work.
- Complete quantity takeoffs from engineering drawings and specifications.
- Develop labour, equipment, material, and subcontract pricing.
- Analyze bid documents and identify risks and opportunities.
- Participate in estimate reviews and value engineering sessions.
- Maintain historical cost data and estimating databases.
Qualifications
- Degree or diploma in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field.
- 5-10 years of civil estimating experience.
- Proficiency with estimating software such as InEight Estimate, HeavyBid, or similar.
- Ability to read and interpret drawings, specifications, bid documents, and construction scopes to develop accurate estimates.
- Strong understanding of quantity takeoffs, labour, equipment, materials, subcontract pricing, and historical cost data.
- Strong attention to detail, communication skills, and ability to identify risks, opportunities, and cost-saving measures. #LI-DG

Base Compensation: $95,000 - $120,000
(Actual compensation is subject to variation due to such factors as education, experience, skillset, and/or location)
