Position Overview

As a Bilingual Talent Acquisition Intern on the University Recruiting team, you are responsible for supporting the organization’s recruiting strategy through the sourcing and attraction of intern and new graduate candidates. You will support Kiewit's goals by focusing on building relationships with recruiters and hiring managers to recruit the best and brightest early career talent into the organization.

HR Operations is an integral partner and service provider at Kiewit.  In recent years, we have gone from decentralized HR groups to a unified, shared service team, with various HR Centers of Excellence.  Our vision is to be a best-in-class international HR organization. 

Location

This position is expected to be based out of our central hub office in Oakville, ON. This is a shared service center in a professional office setting.

Responsibilities

  • Support screening of candidate resumes and assist with interviews to assess skills, experience, and fit.
  • Assist in planning and executing on-campus recruiting activities (career fairs, info sessions) and partner with recruiters for candidate engagement.
  • Gain foundational knowledge of the business to align candidate interests and skills with opportunities.
  • Learn and utilize established recruiting processes, systems, and tools while supporting components of the hiring process.
  • Participate in intake discussions with recruiters and hiring leaders to understand position requirements and hiring needs.
  • Assist recruiters with requisition-related tasks, including job postings and rehire coordination.
  • Maintain recruiting systems and candidate records to ensure accuracy and support reporting needs.
  • Help evaluate candidate qualifications and fit under recruiter guidance.
  • Learn basic concepts of candidate communication, including managing expectations and offer considerations.
  • Build awareness of labor market trends and talent supply for assigned roles.
  • Support efforts to connect university recruiting and external sourcing activities with internal workforce needs.
  • Develop understanding of how business strategy aligns with talent acquisition strategy.
  • Assist with sourcing initiatives and collaborate with Talent Advisors to meet staffing needs.

Qualifications

  • Bilingual in French and English
  • Currently attending a 4yr accredited university/college pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Human Resources or equivalent required 
  • Ability to work full-time during the summer (approximately May-August)
  • Prior internship experience in the HR field preferred 
  • Ability to freely access all points of a construction site in a wide-ranging climates and environments  
  • Highly motivated, with a demonstrated passion for excellence and taking initiative
  • Strong work ethic, willing to do what it takes to get the job done right the first time 
  • Demonstrated commitment to ethics and integrity 
  • Passion for safety, with the ability to help us ensure that nobody gets hurt 
  • Strong interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills 
  • Team player with the ability to work independently to meet deadlines, goals and objectives 
  • Strong organization, time management, and attention to detail

  • Work during normal operating hours to organize and complete work within given deadlines. Work overtime and weekends as required.

Base Compensation: $18.00/hr - $25.00/hr
(Actual compensation is subject to variation due to such factors as education, experience, skillset, and/or location)
