Position Overview

We are adding a mid to senior level Scheduler / Project Controls Specialist for our Central construction division.  You will be part of a project controls team responsible for planning, scheduling, quantity management, budget cost controls, change management, and reporting for infrastructure projects.  This hands-on role will give you the opportunity to directly interface with the estimating, design, and construction teams to ensure the accurate life cycle of quantity, cost, and schedule management from original estimate through project completion.  By analyzing, monitoring, and maintaining the projects’ progress, you’ll prepare and analyze reports, develop alternative solutions, and be a key team member in driving successful project completion. 

 

This team supports a variety of large civil/structural infrastructure from mass grading, drainage, utility infrastructure, rail, wastewater, to heavy highway to bridge rehabilitation and new construction.  We are one of North America’s largest and most respected construction organizations, and one of the most profitable.  In this role, you will support construction projects, performing resource and cost loaded schedules and analysis. District Overview

Kiewit's Central District operates in the central and south-central regions of the United States. We build heavy civil and transportation projects, including highways, airports, mass transit systems, canals, dams and tunnels. With one of the largest equipment fleets in the region, we can mobilize to any location as a full-service construction team capable of self-performing mass grading, drainage, bridge construction, aggregate production, paving, rail and utility construction. 

Location

This position is located in our Rocky Mountain district office, in Lone Tree Colorado.  We offer relocation assistance to the area.  

Responsibilities

  • Work with the team to understand project scopes and contracts for heavy infrastructure projects, and support the detailed planning and scheduling of construction projects from concept, through preconstruction through final construction.
  • Manage quantity take-offs and incorporate any changes from the original estimate into all quantity, cost, and schedule reporting to support earned value claiming and material purchasing.
  • Ensure work is being quantified and tracked in appropriate units of measure and cost items/codes.
  • Develop resource loaded schedules, including lists of activities, major milestones, critical approvals, long lead procurement items and other critical project deliverables to be scheduled and tracked for the project.
  • Develop resource and cost loaded schedules in P6 which include developing schedule logic and constraints, activities, WBS, major milestones, critical approvals, long lead time items, realistic activity durations, available manpower, and resources.
  • Provide scheduling analysis for delays and impacts to identify and mitigate project risk.  Assess impacts of scope changes, and schedule slippages, keeping stakeholders informed.  
  • Manage internal controls including implementing process controls, measuring project performance, reporting on project status, and ensuring the integrity and validity of internally and externally disseminated information.
  • Apply knowledge of engineering, procurement, and construction terminology and concepts to develop and maintain critic path logic networks, Accumulate and access historical and forecast data for use in maintaining realistic future planning and forecasting.   Track contract document requirements for schedule adherence as well as change orders and contract admendments.  
  • Provide guidance, direction, and specialized assistance for the resolution of difficult project control problems.  Confirm project status, identify and repoirt on variations in the schedule.
  • Assist in the preparation, review, and updates of periodic progress reports, graphs, and charts that include earned-value schedule progress, schedule forecasting, including manpower forecasting and executive Management Summaries. 

Qualifications

  • Undergraduate degree in engineering, construction management, or related field (technical training and related experience may be considered in lieu of).
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience performing scheduling/project controls for construction projects, including planning, estimating, forecasting, scheduling, cost control, schedule control, and/or project reports, using P6, with experience performing the responsibilities as outlined above.  Experience performing scheduling of infrastructure projects is strongly preferred:  Specific experience desired in scheduling for civil Highway, Utility infrastructure, water/wastewater, grading, excavation, paving, concrete forming, bridge and rail/transit 
  • Advanced skills in Primavera P6 and scheduling, and reporting fundamentals is required.
  • Understanding of Earned Value Management System.
  • Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications.
  • Advanced skills in MS Office, with the ability to utilize various systems for reporting, and adapt to new innovations and processes.
  • Strong written and verbal communications skills and Strong decision-making skills.
  • Demonstrated work ethic while working both independently and with teams to complete tasks under a deadline.
  • Excellent time management and organizational skills.
  • Ability to manage, analyze, and manipulate large data sets.
  • Willing to travel to project sites and/or offices and willing to work in our Lone Tree Colorado office full time.

Base Compensation: $95,170/yr - $150,000 
(Actual compensation is subject to variation due to such factors as education, experience, skillset, and/or location)
