Position Overview
Kiewit Infrastructure Engineers (KIE) is seeking a mid-level Civil Designer to join the Digital Survey team at our Lone Tree, CO office. In this role, you'll be responsible for developing detailed 3D CAD models that represent both proposed designs and existing site conditions. You will also support efforts to acquire or model existing surface data from various sources and update these models as new survey information becomes available.
District Overview
Kiewit Infrastructure Engineering's Alternative Delivery (Design-Build, EPC, etc) team is driving clients to turn to Kiewit during all stages of alternative delivery projects. Through our integrated design and construction approach, our multi-disciplinary team works together to improve schedule, control costs and minimize risk. Our construction-focused engineers work collaboratively with our estimators and builders to design solutions that are innovative, constructible, and designed with a focus on safety. Location
This position is based out of our Lone Tree, CO Regional Headquaters
Responsibilities
· Create 3D models using construction plans and shop drawings.
· Research available public surface data.
· Serve as a primary resource for LiDAR data processing on KIE projects.
· Work with point cloud data collected from mobile, terrestrial and/or airborne collection methods.
· Create surfaces from extracted feature lines or point cloud data.
· Conduct quality control on deliverables.
· Extract existing structures from point cloud data.
· Provide updates to existing surface models from completed survey requests
· Manage and maintain the basis of design information that is derived from survey
· Mentor Junior Designers as needed
Qualifications
· At least an associate degree in computer aided design, 3D modeling, drafting or similar program experience.
· 3-8 years of experience in computer aided design, modeling or drafting field
· Proficient in AutoCAD and/or MicroStation Connect.
· General knowledge of engineering principles and materials for civil/structural work.
· Ability to comprehend civil/structural contract drawings.
· Proven experience with task organization and prioritization.
· Critical thinking skills necessary with the ability to plan and conceptualize.
· Capable of recognizing discrepancies with strong attention to detail.
· Effective oral and written communication skills.
· Basic skills in Microsoft Office products (Excel, Outlook, Word, PowerPoint).
Preferred Qualifications:
· Experience with Trimble Business Center.
· Survey experience on civil construction projects.
· Experience modeling in Civil 3D and/or Bentley Open Roads Designer.
· Experience with LiDAR extraction.

Base Compensation: $70,000/yr - $88,000/yr
(Actual compensation is subject to variation due to such factors as education, experience, skillset, and/or location)
