Position Overview
Kiewit Infrastructure Engineers (KIE) has an opening for a dynamic Structural Engineer Intern in our growing Engineering organization. You will be part of our rapidly growing Infrastructure Design Department, which includes structural, geotechnical, civil, drainage, roadway, rail, and materials disciplines, is a multi-faceted and leading-edge division of Kiewit with best-in-class technical expertise focused on the design-build delivery of infrastructure projects.
Our Temporary Works group consists of innovative design engineers whose expertise in designing and building temporary works adds value and ensures the success of Kiewit’s projects. Additionally, Temporary Works provides on-site engineering and coordination support, leading and collaborating with Kiewit’s construction teams.

Location
This position is based in our Lenexa, KS office.
Responsibilities
• Perform calculations and structural designs for temporary works including erection and demolition planning, formwork/falsework design, support of excavation systems, temporary bridges and crane trestles, heavy crane lift planning, Accelerated Bridge Construction techniques, personnel access and fall protection systems, marine engineering, evaluation of existing structures for construction loads, etc.
• Ensure accuracy of the design drawings
Qualifications
• Pursuing a Bachelor's, Master's degree or higher in Structural Engineering, Civil or Architectural Engineering (with Structural emphasis) from an ABET accredited college or university.
• GPA above 3.0 preferred
• Available to work full-time during the 2025 summer
• Knowledge and experience working with Microsoft Word and Excel
• Familiar with basic structural analysis software and engineering design software such as AutoCAD, Bluebeam, MathCAD, Navisworks, SAP2000, RISA-3D etc.
• Strong work ethic - willing to do what it takes to get the job done
• Good written and verbal communication skills
• Be willing to fully participate in job assignments at the job site, district office or department to which the intern is assigned
