Our rapidly growing Industrial Engineering team, which includes process, mechanical, electrical, controls, structural, architectural, geotechnical, and civil disciplines, is a multi-faceted and leading-edge division of Kiewit with best-in-class technical expertise focused on EPC and design-build delivery of industrial projects in markets such as Food & Beverage, Mineral Processing, Renewable Fuels, Pulp and Paper, Steel & Aluminum, Industrial Buildings, and Industrial Energy, Water and Utilities. 

Location

These positions can either be based out of our Lenexa Kansas, Lone Tree, Colorado, or Minneapolis (Bloomington) Minnesota office.   Consideration will be made for other locations near Kiewit Hubs, for more Senior level (10+ years) Engineers with significant structural steel/concrete design expertise, that have direct skills/experience wthat aligns wtih our core business in Industrial.  More entry level candidates will be required to be in Lenexa or Lonetree.
We do offer relocation for individuals to our Lenexa Kansas Office.  

Responsibilities

•    Develop and check structural designs for steel, concrete, and foundation systems, supporting industrial equipment, pipe racks and supports, lifting devices, footings, piles, utility structures and other related building structures for complex industrial facilities and processes.  Prepare designs for structures including research, system selection, analysis, and drawing preparation on projects ranging from moderate to large in size and complexity.   

•    Apply department and industry standards to produce and review calculations, project and detailed shop drawings, project specifications and other design deliverables.  Utilize RISA, SAP2000 for structural Analysis and design.

•    Perform detailed designs and analysis for assigned structures, from concept to construction, working on Design/Build and EPC projects.

•    Leverages Building Information Modeling (BIM), REVIT and AutoCAD to create plans, drawings, and details.

•    Incorporate the requirements of the Engineering, Procurement, and Construction (EPC) contract, customer Requests for Proposals (RFPs), professional service agreements, or other contractual requirements ensuring the projects meet or exceed project goals.

•    Coordinate with internal and external partners including cross-discipline, construction, vendors, fabricator(s), and owners to address structural-related issues or concerns.

•    Recommend changes for standards or process improvements, as needed.

•    For more Senior Engineers:  Prepare, monitor, and update project plans, schedules, and budgets (including staffing needs) to project management and department management.  Support estimating, scheduling and project controls as needed with information on your project, while mentoring and directing the work of entry/mid-level engineer, including reviewing their progress/results, providing direction and coaching as needed.   Support department managers in setting and achieving performance goals for the department.
 

Qualifications

•    Bachelor’s degree in Engineering in a civil or architectural engineering program from an ABET accredited four-year college or university program.  Some masters’ coursework preferred.
•    Licensed Professional Engineer or in the process of completing your PE within the next 6 to 12 months. 
•    At least 5 years experience in structural engineering and design in both concrete and steel working in industrial, advanced technology facilities (Data Centers), water/wastewater or building markets.   (Prefer water/wastewater design experience).  For Senior Engineers looking for Leadership role - must have at least 5 years design plus 3 or more years leading projects and mentoring other engineers.  Experience with modular structural design highly desired.  
•    Must be able to communicate effectively and constructively with other team members and disciplines both verbally and written form
•    Functional in utilizing spreadsheets, databases, word processing, and computer operations
•    Must have knowledge and work experience in engineering software including: CSi SAP2000 and SAFE, RISA Suite.
•    Knowledge and experience with BIM software: (Revit preferred), AutoCAD, and Navisworks.3D modeling experience required
•    Must be able to represent Kiewit Industrial Engineering in a professional manner to owners, contractors, vendors, and any other contacts outside Kiewit organization

Base Compensation: $95,000/yr - $100,000/yr 
(Actual compensation is subject to variation due to such factors as education, experience, skillset, and/or location)
