Location
The position is located in Lenexa, KS. Other locations may be considered.
Responsibilities
- Lead and perform engineering design tasks and coordinate with CADD teams in developing plans, specifications, and estimates for final design of standard bridges, walls, and other structures (culverts, Inlet structures, etc.).
- Develop task scopes, schedules, and budgets for design deliverables for structural designs.
- Identify and understand technical requirements of design projects and implement engineering principles to develop solutions.
- Manage the design team to ensure the scope is met while producing quality deliverables within the required schedule, managing risk/change, and the project budget while balancing impacts for the overall success of Kiewit
- Develop design criteria, determine need for and establish project-specific design criteria.
- Provide technical reviews at the conceptual and final design stages of project development\Perform interdisciplinary reviews for coordination with other design disciplines and compliance with contract documents.
- Lead technical meetings and discussions; strategize solutions to complex or unique technical problems.
- Identify technical differentiators and develop schemes for key project pursuits.

Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Structural Engineering or Civil Engineering. Masters degree preferred.
- 10+ years experience in relevant structural engineering design with emphasis within the nuclear space. Experience with using industry codes to develop equipment design.
- Knowledge, application and understanding of ASME Boiler and Pressure Vessel Codes.
- 5+ years of experience leading/mentoring junior engineers required.
- Design build transportation project related experience is required.
- Registration as a Professional Engineer in at least one state is highly desireable.
- Strong all-around theoretical knowledge of structural engineering principles.
- Experience with Design-Build or other alternative delivery methods required.
- Experience with seismic design and analysis, preferred.
- Experience with AASHTO LRFD, AISC, ACI, and other North American design codes.
- Excellent communication skills, both oral and written.
- Strong people skills and an ability to work in a multi-disciplinary team environment.
- Ability to travel as business requires.
