Position Overview

The Strategy and Analysis Specialist supports the Industrial Business Development Group (Get Work Team) by providing data-driven insights, market intelligence, strategic analysis, and performance reporting to enable informed decisions.  This role blends market research, competitive analysis, trend assessment, and quantitative analysis to help shape business development strategy, prioritize opportunities, and support senior leadership decision-making.


The ideal candidate brings strong analytical rigor, a structured problem-solving mindset, and the ability to translate complex data into clear, actionable insights for stakeholders across business development, operations, and executive leadership.

Our rapidly growing Industrial and Water Engineering Group, which includes mechanical, process, electrical, controls, structural, architectural, geotechnical, and civil disciplines, is a multi-faceted and leading-edge division of Kiewit with best-in-class technical expertise focused on EPC and design-build delivery of industrial projects in markets such as Food & Beverage, Consumer Products, Heavy Manufacturing, Industrial Buildings, Industrial Water and Utilities. We have specialized expertise in plant floor process design, packaging, refrigerated/frozen facility design, and ammonia refrigeration systems.

 

Location

This position will be based out of our Lenexa, KS, or Lone Tree, CO office location.

Responsibilities

1. Market & Competitive Intelligence:

  • Conduct in‑depth market research across industrial construction sectors (e.g., data centers, energy, water, manufacturing, chemicals).
  • Analyze market size, growth rates, customer investment trends, and geographic demand drivers.
  • Monitor competitor positioning, project activity, capabilities, and strategic moves.
  • Track customers, owners, developers, contracting trends, and capital investment pipelines.
  • Synthesize intelligence into concise briefings for business development leaders and executives.

 

2. Strategy Development Support:

  • Support the development of market entry, growth, and portfolio strategies.
  • Assist with target market definition, opportunity prioritization, and go‑to‑market planning.
  • Develop strategic frameworks, scenario analyses, and business cases to support investment and pursuit decisions.
  • Partner with senior leaders to translate strategy into actionable insights for the Get Work team.

 

3. Data Analysis & Insights:

  • Analyze business development, pipeline, bid, and win‑loss data to identify trends, gaps, and performance drivers.
  • Work with other members of the Get Work team to build and maintain dashboards, scorecards, and KPIs to track BD performance and market exposure.
  • Conduct quantitative and qualitative analyses to support strategic reviews and leadership presentations.
  • Ensure data integrity and consistency across internal data sources (CRM, market databases, internal reports).
  • Work with Kiewit Data Services and other groups to integrate data across applications.

 

4. Reporting & Executive Communications:

  • Prepare clear, concise reports and presentations for leadership, including market outlooks, trend analyses, and strategic insights.
  • Translate complex data into executive‑ready visuals and narratives.
  • Support recurring business reviews, strategy offsites, and long‑range planning efforts.
  • Develop standardized templates and reporting structures to improve consistency and efficiency.

 

5. Cross‑Functional Collaboration:

  • Work closely with business development, estimating, operations, finance, and marketing teams.
  • Support alignment between market strategy, pursuit strategy, and operational capabilities.
  • Serve as an analytical thought partner to Get work leadership and pursuit teams.

Qualifications

•    Bachelor’s degree (Business, Marketing, Data Analysis, Engineering, or Construction related field), or equivalent industry experience.
•    Experience with analysis of engineering and construction markets.
•    Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with demonstrated ability to structure complex analysis.  
•    Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint.
•    Understanding data management, forecast and analytical software, such as CRM (SAP), SharePoint, Tableau, PowerBI, etc. or similar software systems.
•    Proven ability to take initiative and build strong and productive personal relationships
•    Exceptional communication and presentation skills, both written and verbal, in order to express technical and nontechnical concepts clearly and concisely
•    Ability to travel up to 25% throughout the United States and Canada or as business necessitates.

Base Compensation: $89,740/yr - $94,227/yr 
(Actual compensation is subject to variation due to such factors as education, experience, skillset, and/or location)
