We are seeking a Process/Water Tech Engineer Intern to join our Engineering team based in Lenexa, KS that is developing water and wastewater infrastructure solutions across North America. You will assist with small projects, or as a part of a large multi-discipline team on larger projects, to develop conceptual and detailed designs and calculations to support the project execution using current drawing and technical tools/programs/software with a focus on design documentation creation/layout.

The Kiewit Water Engineering team, which includes process, mechanical, piping, electrical, instrumentation and control, structural, and civil disciplines, is a multi-faceted division of Kiewit with best-in-class technical expertise focused on alternative Design-Build (progressive and/or fixed price) and EPC delivery models for complex water projects.  The team brings project solutions to life across North America in the following areas:

  • Water Treatment
  • Wastewater Treatment
  • Desalination
  • Water Reuse
  • Groundwater Remediation
  • Stormwater Recycling
  • Pipelines and Conveyance

Location

This position is based in our Lenexa, KS office.  

Responsibilities

•    Work within a multi-disciplinary team of engineers and designers to execute design and engineering on projects 
•    Assist with the design of industrial process water and wastewater treatment plants 
•    Assist with the generating design deliverables such as PFD’s, P&ID’s, process simulations, engineering calculations, and datasheets 
•    Assist with the generating deliverables for projects, working within strict budget and schedule constraints to execute the process engineering scope 
•    Uses specific software packages for process systems and hydraulics modeling and scenario studies (Aspen, HYSYS, etc.) 
•    Contributes to the development of client proposals and project cost estimates 

Qualifications

•    Pursuing Bachelor's degree or higher in Chemical Engineering
•    3.0 Cumulative GPA preferred
•    Knowledge of Aspen HYSYS and other process simulation tools preferred 
•    Experience with Microsoft Office Suites
