Lead Supply Chain Specialist - Power Market

Position Overview

The Lead Supply Chain Specialist is responsible for leading all supply chain functions for assigned projects, ensuring the successful planning, sourcing, contracting, procurement, logistics, and materials management activities required to support project execution. This role serves as a key advisor to project leadership and collaborates closely with Project Management, Construction, Engineering, Project Controls, suppliers, subcontractors, and internal stakeholders to drive project success.

The Lead Supply Chain Specialist provides strategic oversight of procurement and contract activities, leads project supply chain planning and status meetings, mentors supply chain team members, and ensures supply chain objectives are aligned with project schedules, budgets, quality standards, and operational goals.

This individual is recognized as a subject matter expert within their specialty area and is expected to provide leadership, guidance, and recommendations on complex commercial and supply chain decisions.

Location

 This position is based out of our Lenexa, KS offices.

Responsibilities

• Support supply chain with (identification of mandatory and recommended prime contract flow-down clauses for incorporation into vendor contract templates, and work with Supply Chain Managers to develop/review project-specific templates.     
• Review project contract templates for adherence to project requirements.
• Assist in the development of company-wide procurement templates. 
• Provide as-needed training on negotiation, contracts, and terms and conditions.
• Assist in negotiating high-risk contracts for various projects.
• Provide negotiation support to project teams and operate as initial legal review.
• Serve as a liaison between the procurement team and project attorney(s) to negotiate and resolve commercial issues and move contracts forward to execution.
• Resolve escalated, complex, or disputed contract issues.
• Develop and maintain vendor relationships and manage supplier-specific vendor template negotiations.
• Support procurement staff meetings and provide legal communication to the team as needed.
• Interface with business, legal, risk, tax, suppliers, and internal procurement departments.
• Perform other duties as assigned by immediate supervisor or upper management.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Supply Chain Management, Business, Construction Management, Engineering, Logistics, Finance, or a related field; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• 8+ years of progressive experience in procurement, supply chain management, strategic sourcing, subcontracts administration, materials management, logistics, or related disciplines.
• Experience leading supply chain activities on large industrial, infrastructure, manufacturing, energy, transportation, or EPC projects.
• Strong knowledge of contract formation, contract administration, sourcing, supplier management, and commercial negotiations.
• Demonstrated ability to lead cross-functional teams and influence project stakeholders.
• Strong communication, leadership, analytical, and decision-making skills.
• Experience utilizing enterprise procurement and ERP systems.
• Must be willing to travel periodically for periods of less than a week.
