Position Overview

Kiewit is seeking a detail-oriented and highly motivated Industrial Estimator to support the development of accurate, competitive, and profitable estimates for industrial EPC and construction projects. In this role, you’ll partner with engineering, procurement, construction, and project management teams to deliver high‑quality proposals that reflect Kiewit’s commitment to safety, innovation, and operational excellence. This is a critical position for shaping winning strategies in markets such as industrial manufacturing, process facilities, water/wastewater, energy, and mission‑critical infrastructure.

Based in Lenexa, Kansas office

Responsibilities

Develop detailed cost estimates for self‑perform and subcontracted scopes including civil, structural, mechanical, electrical, piping, and process systems.Quantify project components using drawings, models, specs, and conceptual information.Prepare and analyze takeoffs, cost breakdowns, productivity assumptions, and construction methodologies.Support conceptual and early‑phase estimating with limited design information.Evaluate subcontractor and supplier quotes for accuracy, scope, and alignment with project requirements.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or related field; equivalent experience considered.
  • 2–7+ years of estimating or relevant construction/industrial experience (field or project engineering experience a plus).
  • Strong understanding of construction means, methods, and work sequencing in industrial environments.Experience with estimating software (e.g., HeavyBid, InEight) and tools such as Excel, Bluebeam, and model-based quantification.
  • Excellent analytical skills with strong attention to detail and accuracy.Ability to interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and technical documents.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to work collaboratively across multiple teams and stakeholders.
  • Results-driven, organized, and able to meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
