Engineering Project Manager - Industrial Design

Position Overview

Kiewit’s Industrial division is seeking a highly driven Engineering Project Manager to lead multidisciplinary engineering efforts across complex industrial projects. This role is central to ensuring technical excellence, disciplined execution, and seamless coordination between engineering, construction, and project leadership teams. You will guide engineering deliverables from concept through commissioning, ensuring alignment with project objectives, client expectations, and Kiewit’s rigorous standards for safety, quality, and performance.

District Overview

Our rapidly growing Industrial Engineering team, which includes process, mechanical, electrical, controls, structural, architectural, geotechnical, and civil disciplines, is a multi-faceted and leading-edge division of Kiewit with best-in-class technical expertise focused on EPC and design-build delivery of industrial projects in markets such as Advanced Technologies (Data Centers, Semiconductors, EV Battery), Food & Beverage, Mineral Processing, Renewable Fuels, Pulp and Paper, Steel & Aluminum, Industrial Buildings, and Industrial Energy, Bioprocessing and Chemical processing, Water, and Wastewater treatment.  

Location

We prefer the role to be located in our Lenexa Kansas (Kansas City), Forworth Texas, Lone Tree Colorado offices.  Remote locations may be considered that are near other Kiewit major offices but with 50% travel to Lenexa Kansas required, for more Senior level candidates with 12+ years of Engineering PM experience in one or more of our specific industries.  

Responsibilities

• Lead and manage all multi-disciplined engineering activities for assigned industrial projects, ensuring deliverables are completed on schedule, within scope, and to Kiewit quality standards from design into construction administration.
• Coordinate cross‑functional engineering disciplines, construction teams, and external partners to maintain alignment and resolve technical challenges.
• Oversee development, review, and approval of engineering documents, including drawings, specifications, calculations, and technical reports.
• Drive early project planning, design development, and constructability reviews to optimize cost, schedule, and execution strategy.
• Manage engineering budgets, forecasts, progress tracking, and change management processes.
• Serve as the primary technical liaison with clients, vendors, and internal stakeholders, including our Construction project manager/team, ensuring clear communication and timely issue resolution.
• Champion Kiewit’s commitment to safety, innovation, and continuous improvement across all engineering activities.
• Support proposal development, estimating, and project pursuit efforts with engineering expertise and strategic input.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Civil, Chemical, or related discipline) is required.  
• 5+ years of engineering design experience for D/B, Progressive D/B or EPC projects within the industrial market such as Industrial Power, Data Centers, Water/Wastewater, Mission Critical Facilities, Mining and Metals, or other similar heavy industrial facilities and at least 2 years of experience leading industrial projects.
• Must have demonstrated experience managing engineering teams and design deliverables (conceptual design through construction administration) on large, complex projects within the industrial market.
• Must have demonstrated experience with D/B, Progressive D/B, or EPC project execution, design development, and construction integration.
• Excellent communication, leadership, and problem‑solving skills.
• Ability to work collaboratively in a fast‑paced environment with multiple stakeholders and competing priorities.
