The Engineering Controls Analyst is an entry level role focused on supporting a Design Engineering project team with various aspects of Operational Project Controls. These aspects include accounting, scheduling, earned-value management, and finance related functions. Each project at Kiewit is run like a small business, with the Engineering Controls Analyst concentrated on critical tasks such as defining Engineering & Design scope, defining standard workflows & associated rules of credit, validating progress, ensuring data alignment between tools & systems, and advising Engineering Project leadership on risk management strategies. This position will become skilled at executing recurring processes, and utilizing standard tools, related to various cost, earned value, and schedule components of Engineering Projects such as labor, expenses, consultants, and  3rd party subcontracts. The Engineering Controls Analyst will be an integral part of the month end close out process and will regularly assists in preparing a monthly financial reporting package for project management.

Responsibilities

  • Recognize the importance of being a team player by adapting to project needs and helping in other areas as needed.
  • Foster relationships with the Engineering & Design team and show a willingness to learn about the work.
  • Review spent hours, incurred expense costs, quantity claiming, budget structure, exception reports, and schedule progression curves, while making appropriate corrections to ensure accurate reporting for management.
  • Identify, adjust, and review financial forecast & budget issues within Kiewit standard financial summary reports.

Qualifications

  • 0 - 2 years of financial/data analysis experience.
  • Bachelor’s degree in mathematics, Business Administration, Accounting, Finance and/or similar field of study.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word and Outlook.
  • Experience working with Pivot Tables, V-Look Ups, and other key excel functions is preferred.
  • Effective communication (both oral and written), organization and interpersonal skills.
  • Good attention to detail with the ability to recognize discrepancies.
  • Positive attitude, eagerness to learn, and passionate for continuous improvement.
  • Ability to work independently, as well as part of a team.
  • Ability to work in the United States without sponsorship, both now and in the future.
  • Previous internship experience is preferred.
