Position Overview

Our Industrial and Water market is growing across North America, and we are adding Mid and Senior level Electrical Engineers to our Electrical/I&C design team, with options to work in our Lenexa Kansas, Minneapolis Minnesota office and in our Dallas/Fortworth Texas location.  We are looking for individuals with a strong background in Electrical Engineering design with a strong background in ETP and balance of plant designs with experience and/or interest in working on design/build and EPC projects.  Our industrial and Water market is growing and our Engineers work on complex facilities/plant in various markets, which means you have the opportunity to work on varied projects and learn new industries and technologies to advance your career.  We offer stability, excellent benefits, competitive pay, a strong backlog of work and a strong team culture that focuses on innovation and sustainability.    In this role you may work on Water treatment, wastewater treatment, desalination/reuse, manufacturing, data centers, mineral processing, food/beverage processing, pulp/paper facilities, renewables, waste to energy, Industrial energy, specialty chemical plants, -  just to name a few.

Our rapidly growing Industrial Design Group, which includes process, electrical, controls, structural, architectural, geotechnical, and civil disciplines, is a multi-faceted and leading-edge division of Kiewit with best-in-class technical expertise focused on EPC and design-build delivery of industrial projects in markets such as Food & Beverage, Consumer Products, Heavy Manufacturing, Industrial Buildings Industrial Water and Utilities. 

Location

This position can be based out of our Lenexa (Kansas City) KS, Minneapolis MN or Dallas/Fortworth location and we offer relocation assistance.  

Responsibilities

  • Prepare electrical engineering designs, including layout, design schematics, calculations and conceptual designs; utilizing standard methods and project principles. 
  • Evaluate, select, and apply engineering techniques, procedures, and criteria to design medium to large industrial projects.
  • Formulate technical specifications and prepare interface points with construction partners.  Schedule, review, and coordinate design efforts with other project personnel, performing bid evaluations of equipment and construction proposals and developing recommendations for contract award. 
  • Review electrical requirements for new facilities and project plans.  
  • Perform ETP analysis and simulation, system modeling, protection coordination, reliability studies, load flow studies and grounding integrity
  • Utilize SmartPlant for balance of plant electrical systems design. 
  • Mentor and guide junior engineers, maintaining a comprehensive understanding of departmental design standards, applicable engineering codes, and Kiewit guidelines, providing suggestions and recommendations as needed.
  • Work independently on small projects, or as a part of a large multi-discipline team on larger projects, including working with both in-house inter-discipline engineers and construction partners to provide our Clients the industry’s best of both engineering and physical design.
  • Support RFP, Pre-Feed, FEED, D/B and EPC projects for electrical designs across multiple markets
     

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering from an ABET accredited four-year college or university and EIT license  is required
  • At least 5 years’ experience performing Electrical engineering design for Industrial facilities (which could include Chemical plants, Mining/Mineral Processing, Power, Water/Wastewater, Processing plants, Advanced manufacturing plants, data centers, EV Battery)
  • Experience with ETAP simulation/analysis is required (or similar software)
  • Experience with SmartPlant, or similar software for design
  • PE preferred, or willingness to obtain within a year
  • Experience with FEED, D/B, EPC designs, familiar with 30/60/90% completion design progression
  • Experience in field construction or startup and previous experience directing junior engineers is desirable
